I have an older iMac (OS X), an HP PC (Windows XP), a printer, and a scanner, that I want to network together. Currently, the HP PC is connected to the printer and the scanner. The iMac and the PC are each connected to the same router.

Is it possible to network them together? I also networked my HP laptop (Windows XP), and it shares the printer from another room, no problem. But I don't think the process for linking the PC and the laptop is the same for connecting the iMac. I just used the Network Wizard for the PC and laptop.

Any ideas?

I don't know much about Windows but yes it is possible to network both Mac and PC. There should be something called file sharing or similar control panel on the PC to enable Mac and PC to share their hard drives for each other....they are done directly on a cross over ethernet cable...I'm not sure if it works thru a router. Good luck and hopefully someone here knows more about that set up. :)

some software aren't compatible while either computer plug by PP or USB to printer.

If the printer is plug by ethernet, it shouldn't be problem.
