I know this is rather an old game but I once liked it but I cannot play it with my current computer and XP SP2 for whatever reason :confused: this is same for Need For Speed III

how can I play this game ? any help ?

my computer : Pentium D 2.66 ghz / 1 GB DDR2 ram / X1600 pro graphics card (sapphire) / SATA2 harddisk and XP pro SP2

Oh, that's odd.

That's supposed to work on Win XP SP2 but have you found patches to fix it?

I tried but couldn't find any.. the program crashes when I tried to run.. plus NFS4 doesn't use X1600 pro engine ..

Oh weird... I have same issue with Test Drive 5, it won't run on XP SP2 or vista, it was crashed as well.
 
my best advice as far as i am concerned is to fuck the PC versions of the NFS games. I tried NFS 5 Porsche Unleashed on Win XP and it kept crashing on me. The console versions are your best bet to have a good NFS experience.

Nowadays if I want my NFS fix, i stick to my PS3 as I can play all the NFS games that has been released from Road and Track NFS to Carbon on my PS3.
