20 Items or Less...

yeah i went up to 20 items when i have less than 20 items but ppl contiune to use more than 20 items to go on the 20 item line when they have more than that and ignore the cashiers pleas not to go in that line and pile up the items on the scan smh sheesh and plus cut ppl out of lines scoffs GRR

before i go to the 20 items line i make sure that i have less than 20 items to go there

20 items or less, wow that alot...

Here in DC only 8 to 12 items or less for "express checkout", I like to use self checkout cuz more faster and many people dont know how to use it

Around here, our limit is 15 items but I have not had nor seen that problem. I think the key to solving this problem is for the stores to enforce this limitation.....

It usually depends on the stores. Some stores have more than one lanes... "10 items or less", "20 items or less", "cash only", etc.

I was cashier on limiited 15-item booth. There is customer who have more 15 items in carrier. I able to get this out quick than any cashier in department.

Why? I do 30 items per minutes.

Boy, talk about customers being ignorant and not respecting the "20 items or less" policy. Although the cashiers could say, "no"... it's more of making the customers happy than denying them. Ugh!

So, any of this ever happen to you? I'm sure it has... discuss! :)

Sad but true. "Customer is always right" :ugh3:

If i were you , i would cut in the line and tell that person that it would be faster if i go first :D

I tried that. She gave me the snobby "I was here first" attitude.

There are a lot of times when I do get a very friendly customer. This usually happens in those regular check out lanes. For instance, there will be just me and her. I have only 5 items in my hands and she has a cart full of groceries. She will look at me and the things I have, then say... "Sir, you can move ahead of me. I've got a lot and you don't. So, go ahead." "Thanks, ma'am."

If only the world were full of customers like her, we would all be living in peaceful harmony... yeah, right. :(

I was one of them who have over 20 items at checkout where says 20 items or less

sometimes when I have few things, I looked at the person who has over 20 items but I couldn't complain cuz I have done too, I don't mind to wait in line that 20 items or less checkout.

If I am in hurry I would look for any other checkouts looking for few people in line, and/or few things in their carts.

Also there's self checkout that one is my favorite and quick, noticed few people likes there

I usually jusut ask them if they can read? For heavens sake--the sign is right there!

Vampy,

Yes I'm agree that the customers should show their respect and follow their rules.

I would remind a lady that here is 20 items or less and point my finger to the sign for them to read when I were you. It was happened to me before.

We have 10 items or less here in Supermarket but the debit or credit card are still acceptance. We showed a man the sign of 10 items or less as he came with full foods in cart. He apologized and went back to other line. (I know the people tried out of their purposal to go 10 items or less line but they can't do anything because they read their signs and go back if the people remind them - Sometimes the Cashier saw and remind them to go other line).

It never happen to me in here or Michigan... But I remember my sister told me the story, once she was working at Wal Mart as Cashier, so she use the cashier for 20 items or less, then a guy came up to her with maybe more than 30 items, she told him taht she can't take them unless he accept the seperate pay, he got blew up because of tax, it will be double tax for him to paying on. She said then, read the sign and move your little butt to in the regular lane, he did.

LOL. I like that...

Well, Some Wal-Mart stores can be more strict on "20 or less items" policy or associate can get terminate or write up for let consumers with full of items in their cart when get in express check out. Associates are require to check all consumer's cart before submit or ask them to go to regular checkout, also tell no when want or beg to checkout in express lane.

Oh my, associates aren't allow their policy, shame on them.

For me, I rather to shopping for grocery at Super Target because I like their policy, even more strict than Wal-Mart does, such as one employee was argued with one consumer when try to get in express lane then ended up to call manager to remove consumers from their store, also one employee don't get terminated.

Been there, and usually what I do is just drop everything and walk out and go other store! I don't give damn, if they waste my friggin time, okay with me, I go elsewhere! I end up gone to Weggy, They always open up another lane as soon as manager see 3 or more customer in same lane! So, I end up go to Weggy instead... :madfawk: Wal-fart!

Ouch, I'm sorry about how is your feeling about Wal-Mart.

Some people are admit that Wal-Mart is too sweet for consumers.

I think about want quit this job and rather to work at Target or Best Buy. :ugh:

When I go to Wally world I usually go there to buy just a few items. Often less than 10 items.

The local walmarts here are not too bad but it is the dollar general that I hate.

They will have only one checkout lane open and people are standing around the shelves for 15 minutes. Often it takes less time for me to find what I want than it is to pay for it and leave.

They need to get a bigger store and have more checkout lanes and employees to man them. And those who are slow cashiers need to go to stocking and clean up duties.

I think the self checkouts should be limited to people who have less than 5 items because you really dont need a cashier but yet the items still need to be paid for. The express lanes should be for 5-15 items. 16+ items should go to regular lane.

I hate shopping with my dad because he tries to load the cart a certain way and it wastes time, and it makes for a grumpy cashier and grumpy customers that are wating on him.

I am sorry I don't get it. How so double tax? :stupid:
if grocery is seperated in 2 loads tax would be charged to each load seperately I mean splits tax, same if altogether once :hmm:

I used to seperate 2 loads above $50 each to get each receipt of 10 cents off a gallon for gas at safeway, if altogether once over 100 I would get only one receipt, 10 cents off

You can't get double tax. The tax will add up the same anyway.

Let's suppose tax is 8%.

She has a cart full of groceries that totals up to $200.

If she paid for the whole thing with tax, it would be $216.

If the cashier decided to ring up half and half... that's $100 and $100.

So, with tax... $108 and $108... which still adds up to $216.

Yeah but you have people running around listening to strange voices in their heads telling them that they will be double taxed on things if it is not paid for in a certain way. Damn wierdos.
