Some of you know that I don't like pitbull dogs, because of the fact they have a bad rap report, a new neighborhood moved in recently past weekend, I saw that they had a pitbull dog, and then another pitbull was spotted roaming in my front yard and driveway without a leash, I was pretty upset at the fact that both of those dogs don't even have a leash when I have two children and a small dog, I don't even trust pitbull dogs and I just wishes that neighborhood would show some respect by putting a leash on his dogs. So, when both dogs were indoor, I spotted the owner outside, I got a hold of him, told him that he should put a leash on the dogs and not having them running around my yard and his respond was "Oh they're good dogs, They won't hurt you", I don't care how good they are, they need to be on a leash period, and he goes on saying "Oh just mind your own business" WTF?! I started getting really pissy with him and told him "My kids and my dog makes it my business so if anything happened to them, I'll be holding you responsible, so get your dogs leashed up or I'll call the cops the choice is yours? Which is it?!" Gawd! What's with those pet owners?!! :pissed:

I don't care how good or well behave any dogs are, they should be on leash at all times, and I care about my children's safely and as well my dog, Charlie's safely too. I mean do I have that right to feel safe? Where's the frigging respect? Damn!!
 
Have you tried talking to the owners about it? Perhaps, the city about it? Is there a leash law that the city has?
 
Have you call SPCA or Shealter (spelling) ?? no matter what if there is no leash he gotta have to learn to have put leash on for their safety.

I haven't called the city hall yet, but I will in the morning, didn't have much time to earlier. :(
 
If your state does require to have it on leash.. I would call the law. if they are telling you to mind your own business and the pitbull is coming into your yard is wrong. if they continue to do it then i would call the law.
 
I agree with you that all dogs should be on leash period, it doesn't matter if their dogs are good or not, anything could have happen, safety comes first, btw I think Ohio laws required dogs to be on leash but I'm not positive sure through, I would call the city if I were you and find out if there's a law or policy about dogs being on leash
 
Owner of the pitbulls. There is nothing wrong with pitbulls - it's all based on the owner. I dont like it when people get wrong with idea of pitbulls. If you act like fear, they'll attack you, If you're being standard, and calm down, they wont bother to attack or try to scare you.

but if you want to safe your kid's life, and your small dog - you've could walk down, and try to get the pitbull follow you and put the pitbull in the box , crater, kennel, or put pitbull in the backyard, or bathroom, hold 'em call the animal control

or use the collar/leash on the pitbull and walk around th eneighbor to see if its their pitbull or not.

If you live in a house in the community, you worry about your property. If the dog is on your property. You have the right what to do with the dog. Beside, if the dog is not on your property, then it's the owner's responsbility to take care of the dogs.

If this problems purists, you will need to write down the letter regarding to your concerns, and give the copy of the letter to your new neighbor, if they refuse to cooperate or accept - then you can contact the animals control service - they will be taking care of this immediately because of the type of the dogs since it's pitbulls.

the police - they would JUST contact the animals control n etc.

I don't care what you think about what I feel, People have their fears, I'm sure you have your own fears, that doesn't give anyone a right to let their dogs roaming around freely on someone's property. It's all about respect, I show them respect by putting a leash on my dog. I expect the same respect in return. Thank you. ;)

Well, I don't have any fear with the dogs. You're correct that the owner of the dog does not have the right to allow his/her dog to roaming around on YOUR property because you do not like pitbull, you have a kid, and small dog.

Down here, at my house, and neighbors allow the dogs roaming in the front yard, no one complains. It depends on the community, and people, the pets.

Individuals have their own perspective and thought about the dogs.

Point is that you did not ATTEMPT to speak with the new neighbor and explain your concerns, you get upset, and think that you should contact the animal control whatever its called to take care of this, and possible take the pitbull away. Is that necessary?

If I was in YOUR SHOES, I will walk up to the new neighbor, and explain my CONCERNS related with that dog.

Think about this- New Neighbor probably allow his/her pitbull to roaming around to let pitbull find its terriority in case if they got lost, they will remember the smell, and find the trace to go back to the owner's home.

If the pitbull NEVER have the chance to roamin around the community - and one day, the dog get lost, by jump over the fence, or the pool man came in and forget to close the door. Will the dog ever come back? most of the time? no. Unless they have tag/mircochipped. n etc.

Im entitled to my opinion. so does you. I completely understand your concern. Just think about what I typed. I'm not looking for a rival.

Hope you find a way to work your concern out the owner of the dog, or whatever.

And secondly of all, how could two pitbulls get lost, when the new neighborhood moved in next door, just right next door?

And where did I stated that I called the animal control?? Man you must be blind or you didn't even bothered to read my entire post, You flipped out when I mention pitbulls.

It's like you're telling your new neighbor what to do. This is not the teamwork conversation.

Down here, if we have issues with animals - we contact the animals control. We do not contact the city hall as you mention ealrier that you will call the city hall in the morning. Ok - what will they going to do with this? They will notify the animal control to take care of this.


Im stating, as well I have experience, and went through like this before. I know what to do. I do not get upset and jump into the conclusion and bitch someone else, and tell them to put the leash on the dogs.

If you take the dog a walk a lot and he/she would find his way home. My dog did. a dog doesn't need to roam around the community in order to find it's way home. It's dangerous to the public and to the dog itself, because a dog can get hit by a car, I happened to live on a high traffic street so I wish that new owner some good luck, if he's gonna let this pitbulls roaming around the community, he won't be able to see his dogs alive once they get hit by a moving vehicle.

I don't have an issue with you. I don't even know you. ;)
 
It sounds like the owner refused to put leashes on the dogs when they are in unrestricted field (unfenced front/backyard, neighourhood, etc).

If that's the case, you should call the humane society and they may be able to give the owner a fine for failing to follow the local ordinances. It doesn't matter what kind of breed it is, all dogs MUST be leashed in many cities when they are in an unrestricted area.

VodkaBoulevard is right regarding how dogs find their territories. They have to be able to mark them and smell them in order to trace back to their homes even if it's a few houses away. It's in their nature. Usually, this can be done by bringing out the dogs for a walk.

Feeling like to stand up because, I raised over 15 different dogs. I get around with many dogs. Go to the events, n dog beach, n etc. I know what it's like.

I just don't like the idea when SOME people jump into the conclusion and making it a big deal out of it, and make it sounds like. OMG OMG. you know.

I just want to remind you, not every pitbulls are the same :O).

I did not "blashing" at Cheri. The mental is being narrow, and need to broad to increase the understand, and knowledge. Again, everyone got their own opinions.

It's not appropriate to fight against someone else's opinion. Unless there is a valid source to uses and debate.


Ask this to yourself, is it appropriate to tell your neighbor WHAT TO DO? wtf, hell no way. :eek3:
