im bored so i decided to post a thread. tell me something abt your job if u have one. do u enjoy that job? if ur a college student... what major? if ur on ssi... if ur willing to give us a reason why ur on ssi please do so.


I am a college student studying abt webdesign and graphic art which is why im on ssi so i can get classes for free but im eager to graduate and get job so i can ditch stupid ssi.
 
I work at a public hospital. I don't like it very much but it's better than unemployment.
 
I am both a college student, and employed. I'm working on my graduate degree is psychology and work in the office of student support. I interpret for a deaf student, read/scribe tests for a blind student, arrange services for LD students, work as a teaching assistant in the psychology dept. and tutor.
Damn, I'm too busy!! That's what I get for waiting till my son was out of high school to go back. Now I"m old and have to do everything hurry, hurry, hurry!:|
 
i m still on ssi because i m moving from wisconsin to new orleans in 2 days from now and my woman s brother says he can get me hired in walmart so i guess i ll be employed soon and i agree i hate ssi
 
I work Casino. I work inside the Vault, counting money, doing exchange money and lots of paperwork. I work there for 9 yrs now and still working there. Cause I got better benefit.
Also we own home business on the website.
 
I clean toilets for a living. :D Im a city employee and clean up after other people's messes. Good benefits and better than being on ssi and be broke all the time.

wow you are so brave to clean gross thing from toilets. I would never want work this job.
 
Ive done my share of toilet cleaning for very low pay it is not fun, so bad I probably would be better off on ssi. :eek:

Now I am looking to get back in the journalism field. I am going to keep going back to the newspaper and bugging the piss out of them until they surrender and give me a job. I can be an annoying little pest!
 
I current have two jobs, and I love 2nd job and HATE 1st job! Well first job is warehouse, I pack stuff and ship. 2nd job, I deal with different kinds of people! Some are sweet, some are.... well you can figure out. I hope I end up having my 2nd job into primary and permanent job! Doing Tech support for the deafies, and of course hearies if they know how to use Relay service.
 
I work at PSRS, helping people who is deaf & blind or retard or low-minded or blind and hearing or etc. Like, drive them to the places, cook the food for them, helping them, teach them to become inpedent*sp* so they can do on their own but still, cook food and drive them to the places... They pay really good and have great benefits but Im not going to work there for forever, but I will become college student this 2007 soon..
 
I used to work at Tower Records for few month, now I'm still on SSI but looking for job after thanksgivings and would ask VR to get interpreter for interview.

SSI sucks.

I want move to Atlanta with my friend but not to make decide yet because its #1 best deaf community and alot of good job.
 
Not easy find lots good jobs. Took me 20 years to find a good job that fits me so well. I hope this becomes permanent. Why not Austin, Texas?

I work Staff Resident Assistant at Benson Hall in Gallaudet University, I earned better $$$ than SSI!
 
I'm the head super of my condo complex now. I was elected 3 weeks ago. It's like being an apartment manager. I get to choose who gets the association contracts. I get to choose who gets to babysit the absentee condos. And I get to decide what to do with a $15,000 surplus fund. Maybe some toys like Digital Video Surveillance Software for Surveillance Systems - Video Insight and keyless locks, keyless door locks and maybe a good charity fundraising HR-40 Snack Vendor machine in the laundry room and theres room in it for a few Internet Kiosks for the computer challenged folks in the building. Gotta spend it all by Jan 1, 2007 or it'll go to a charity I despise so greatly the Goodwill of Orange County ewwwww!

Add that to what I do at the deaf center.

And I get to smile like this!

Dont the smell of money make u sick if youre breathing it like 12 hrs a day for 9 yrs.

I cant even have a small stack of bills around me cause the smell makes me sick.

Ok, I'm curious -- why is it everybody keeps saying SSI sucks? Granted it's low as hell income and barely enough to live on... but y'get plenty of free time. Now that's not always a good thing but.. anyways. Why does SSI suck?
