Here it is in a nutshell: " The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home." The key word here is WITHIN THE HOME! It's only a matter of time until it receives another challenge or clarification.
sorry - Supreme Court disagrees with you

If you're a billionaire you most likely have armed guards. since they hire their own protection most don't put themselves into situations where they are in danger. Mark Zuckenberg not only has his own guards, but literally bought the entire two streets around his house in Palo Alto, CA and turned the entire area into a security compound. Drove by Bill Gates compound in Bellavue, WA and it's a nice looking 50,000 sq ft house, but it's surrounded by a wall with a guard house at the entrance and kind of reminded me of a prison. The only one that I can think of that doesn't have guards that I know of is Warren Buffet, still drives himself to work in his 30+ year old station wagon. A lot of low income people put themselves into situations or get involved in things they shouldn't be involved in and it leads to their demise.
that must be nice to be rich to feel all warm and fuzzy.

I guess you want to feel all warm and fuzzy too at our expense.

I don't know if they feel all warm and fuzzy! I've known a few multi millionaires that aren't real happy people. What they say must be true, money won't make you happy.

I gave you the ruling that was from the SC take it up with them! Nothing is illegal until you get caught or the ruling comes under scrutiny and is clarified.

oh right. I read it too fast. and also - within individual's own space

So, people who can't afford armed guards aren't allowed to defend themselves? People who can't afford gated communities can't protect themselves? Are only rich people worth protecting? No self defense for average middle class people?

He doesn't actually say no trans fats, no jumbo soft drinks, etc. he taxes them to the point that he hopes people will not buy them. Yes, everyone eventually goes to the hospital, but healthy people seem to go to the hospital less than unhealthy ones! And perhaps that is Bloombergs goal to make people healthier!
Yes, he is saying that he doesn't want people to use those products, and he's going to use the power of the government to tax people into submission.

Of course, we all want people to live healthier lifestyles but government force very rarely works long term.

His attitude is very elitist, like he's wiser and more righteous than the peons who elected him.

It's ironic that Bloomberg is so concerned about the people's health but he doesn't want them to be able to protect themselves with guns. I guess to him, dying by violence is preferable to dying from poor dietary habits.

@seb Someone likes taxes, and more taxes. And restrictions. And more laws. And telling others what they can and cannot do. What a tyrant. A snoop. A snitch. And traitor. Here is your pat on they back. Good for you. Leave us others the fu*k alone.

Did I say that? I don't think so, you really need to start reading the posts I'm answering to get the gist of what I'm saying. So you need a semi automatic rifle with a high capacity clip to defend yourself? Wow! If you're that bad of a shot I would recommend getting a pump shotgun and depend on that, it's awfully tough to miss someone in close proximity with a shotgun. Also how many times have you had to use your guns to defend yourself?

-It's called sin taxes and has been used for decades to curb smoking, just look what some states tack on to a pack of cigarettes in taxes.

- I don't know that he is elitist, he's a hard working guy who came up with an idea and made it work and expects those around him to work just as hard as he does.

It must of worked because each year he was in office violent crime fell in NYC.

Who likes taxes? I have no problem with anyone owning guns. I do have problems with people owning guns that can kill or wound 605 people in less than 12 minutes. You must be okay with it, because you want nothing to change and if you don't think it will happen again, you are fooling yourself and once the tipping point is reached where the people and the government say enough is enough, I know for a fact you and your fellow gun people aren't going to like the end result.

at the cost of civil rights. do you have any idea how many protests and lawsuits NYC gets for civil rights violation? such as..... Stop-and-Frisk Policy? it was ruled unconstitutional much later.

the gentrification accelerated under him as well.

oh the irony.... time to drain the swamp!

First of all, stop and frisk was a policy that was enacted by Giuliani in 1990, and continued under Bloomberg's administration. Have no idea how many civil rights protests and lawsuits NYC gets for civil rights violations, can you enlighten me with the numbers? You seem to think California has them all the time, yet you could only provide two examples and they were both relatively minor protests. So what you consider a lot of protests and lawsuits could in fact be only a few given your past history.

So you also are okay with slums? You do realize why cities do this don't you?

Well, a truck was used for yet another terror attack. When is this country going to wake up and ban trucks?

When they can start moving 2,500 feet per second!
