What are you doing right now? Part II

]

Landover Mall is gone? Wow. I think we went to another mall too but can't remember the name of it.

G & G was an Italian restaurant that was on Florida Avenue a couple blocks down- If I remember right it was past where the Burger King is now (maybe- as there was a Roy Rogers there too lol). Sort of casual dining. I think there was a bar there too. It was a nice place where you could only afford to go once or twice a month lol. As far as I know a lot of Gally students went there (in my limited experience though. Not the best for deaf & low vision- tended to be dark unless you could get a table under a bright light.

Yes, Landover Mall is demolished so we have many choice now - Pentagon City Mall, Tysons Center, Fair Oaks Mall, Montgomery Mall, Wheaton Mall, Arundel Mills (easier access via metro subway + express bus), Dulles Town Center (you may need Uber), Pontiac Mills (you need Uber), Bowie Town Center (it isn't good as before) and Springfield Town Center (new and renovated).

For me, I prefer Tysons Center and it is easier access via metro subway.

I think that Loundon County will likely to join DC bus system after new subway station opens in Ashburn in 2020 so it means easier access to Dulles Town Center and shopping in Ashburn. Prince William County is unlikely to join anytime soon.

Interesting about G&G, also there are a lot of restaurants on H Street and they got new street cars too.

I read that last line, Foxy!...Get ready to rumble....Nah...she won't move next door...if my Gators, Pythons, Sea Lice or Fecal Bacteria don't get her...my Left 1 will!...

LOL!!! I like your attitude.

Last October, my train group rode the Silver Line to the current end and then got off at Tysons Center for lunch before heading back into DC. That's a bit of a walk to the mall from the station, but I think it's great to be able to take the metro to the mall. I can't wait till it goes all the way to Dulles. Then I might go down to check out the Air & Space Museum at the airport. I do know that I can take the train to its current end and then catch a bus, but I'll probably wait till the tracks are finished and open.

Wheaton Mall is the other one I think we used to trek out to. I really would love to ride on the Metro again. Got a lil jealous of my nephew and sister- he and schoolmates went to DC for a school trip (it's a very small school) and rode around on the Metro to visit different sites. I know the metro has expanded a LOT since my time...if I remember I think they were working on extending the Red line, building the Green and Yellow lines (not sure on that). Only ones we ever took were the Red, Orange and Blue lines lol. And lots of buses.

Didn't any of the students have their own cars? Especially those that lived off campus.

Yes they did- like any other college in the US. I was speaking more for the people I hung out with. At least 3 of them couldn't drive anyway (No license due to other disabilities) and in the first 2ish years we didn't use cars as much. Plus traveling by metro/bus was good if we had a BIG group (only two of us had a car there- one was rather small- ah sorry 3...(ex)boyfriend of one friend also drove but he lived off campus.

Even if people did have cars and lived off campus, many times they'd take the Metro in- there is also a free shuttle between Gallaudet and Eastern Market (back in the 80s anyway)- because traffic in DC/MD/VA is a, excuse my language, BITCH. The traffic there is even worse now; considering my friend and I drove from his MD home to Gallaudet for a workshop...it took us almost 2 hours on what should have been a 45 minute drive. On a weekday.

I enjoyed to watch old metal music video on VH1 Classic.

After Fuse dumped most of rock music so there is no tv channel that playing rock music only.

I know , the weather is bad a lot of places I didn't hear a lot about the fire in Ca. on the news tonight , was it finally put out ?

I must be out of the loop lol I haven't heard about any recent fires.
