What are you thinking about? Part VIII

I was able to read it without zooming in (and I'm considered deaf-blind by some friends...). Then again I am on a desktop.. not sure what you are using Jane.

I saw a response video on FB from DPAN to the AG Bell letter too. Will try to repost it

LoveBlue: Opps I had been using the wrong key to zoom with. I had been hitting "Shift" and it is "Control".

DeafDucky: I am on a 9 year old 15" laptop. It has given me real good service. It is from right at the time IBM had sold to Lenovo so different places have the different company names on it. I did change the internal hard disk to a bigger one a number of years ago and have some externals and other things like scanner and printer connected by USB.

How did the dress turn out? I became more concerned with it fitting when you mentioned gaining 51 pounds. Did you try it on before washing it?

I have not seen a deaf person that does not use ASL on Dancing with the Stars.

I think it's wrong for hearing parents to not have their deaf child learn ASL as well , a deaf child should be able to use ASL with other deaf children
that do know it . Hearing people are completely clueless what it's like to be deaf or hoh . My first speech therapist was hoh too and the only person
I know that wore a HA like me. This meant a lot to me a child to know there were other people that were hoh and wasn't nothing wrong with it like I was
taught to believe. I was crushed when my dad fired my speech therapist b/c he was getting jealous of me liking her too much .

Ahh okay, yeah would look tinier on a laptop screen- I know I have trouble with my 17" laptop that is 8 years old.

Thinking/hoping the new router will be good. So far it's good- speed tests on wireless is much better than it was on my old router. Just have to see how well it will do with ZVRS and Skype(the video portion). And hoping my dad's mac will quit dropping internet on a regular basis (I get a visit every time it does lol).
Thinking I need to clean up the laptop. I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade from XP to either 7 or 10 on the laptop as I want to give it to a friend and I am sure there may be some need for internet....

Please let us (or at least me) know if your figure it out? I am also on XP. In my case XP PRO. Not sure just what I would need hardware wise and them compare to what this one is. It seems I have heard the most good things about 7 but that has been around awhile.
 
This sound really cool ! A tall ship from Spain will be in my city for Memorial Day Weekend . The tall ship Bounty use to dock here but it was lost in a storm.

XP and 7 are great, 8 and 10 sucks bad....
clean up the xp or 7 and keep them, wish I kept mine.
do a system clean up and defragment and it should run great. If you have tons of saved photos, download them to a flash drive ( USB) and delete from the computer ( thats what I do ) and it runs super fast.
 
I was trying to see if there is any grief counselors for deaf people and really haven't found anything on line. I wonder if there are any grief counselors that know ASL ,
I would hope so.

Yeah, I wanted to upgrade the laptop because Microsoft is no longer supporting XP, don't really like the idea of that being connected to the internet. 10 isn't too bad, I don't mind it- have used it on both my sister's 2 laptops and the desktop where I volunteer. There are ways apparently to get Win 7 on the laptop but a bit convoluted because you can't upgrade directly. Not sure how I'll do it because I don't have the money to go buy a Win 7 disc...

I'm sure there are. I believe that the Deaf Counseling Center that offers online/video (VP) counseling sessions has at least one therapist that specializes in grief counseling. If the above is related to who I think it is- I gave that person a link to the site a few weeks ago.

(but then again you won't see this....)
 
How much is a Win 7 disk? That could enter into the decision of what i will eventually be doing as well.

I feel same way. There were many students in my primary school that were below their grade level because they were forced to read lips. It makes me feel sad. I applaud Nyle for doing something about it.
