I'm sure that the Ferguson community and cops needed a better relationship but I don't know if that would have prevented this shooting. It might have affected the people's reaction to the shooting though, if there had been more trust between them and the police.


It didn't look like it but even if they were, why would parents take their children to a potentially violent, angry crowd late at night? What kind of family evening is that? The family that riots together stays together?

I would not be surprise by what parents to with their kids today , I saw some young kids with their parents on the news . Your guess it as good as mine , I said I would never let my kid go to riot . I can't speak for other people . I know it will take more than the cops talking to the kids one time , they will to find ways to gain people trust . I said if there was more trust it the shooting MAY not happen. Some parents take their kids to peaceful protests , this can be risky as we know a riot or fight can break out at any time.

So the media painted them as the bad black men and/or women when they were confronted by the white cops. There are other people who are not Blacks like Deaf, disabilities or someone who were white (men and/or women) who are innocent. You don't know half of the stories going around through police cops and the citizens.

Native Americans had been abused beaten by the cops whether black or white (most often it is always the white cops). When the white cops were around Black men, even Black women, they are always angry and abusive to them whether they were handcuffed or told them what to do like being slaves. That is racial discrimination. They were acting like the Klux Klux Klan attitude behavior. This is disgusting. :(

My post is under this particular thread, that is why I only discussed black people. Sorry you have so much hate in your heart. How do you know how informed or not I am on police matters? Get over your hate for cops and white people, you might actually find some happiness in your life.

Oh. some people made it into a racial case...remember Johnny Cochran? Also, this case wasnt racial to begin with but it was made into one.
 
The whole thing is about race.Unfair to african Americans. Lets face it,,Suppose a black cop shoots and kills a white kid? You won't see white people going on a rampage protesting and looting cause were civilized. African Americans aren't civilized cause they can't accept things. Lets face it. Everybody is their brother or sister to blacks even they didn't know the guy. Just like the L.A Rodney King riots happened because 4 white LAPD officers beat up their brother and they didn't know who Rodney King was. Thats why they react.
 
Think about it, we the Deaf are NOT alone when it comes to discrimination, Black themselves have similar problem as we have. Just that we are disabled, they are race.

The real problem is years and years of oppression to the point where time bomb exploded. I don't think the jury decision alone is the only reason why there is riot. Its more than that,

First issue, 50 out of 53 police serving that black dense community is white.
second issue, majority of black are in poverty, struggling to live by for centuries. Seeing white people get ahead of them all the times.
third issue is they are tired of be nice and fight to get equal rights only to have their face slapped when they see their own "Brother" gets killed by white cop and get away with it and likely NOT the first time, not even second time, nor even third time.

We the Deaf are dealing with same problem as mention above but much worse.

First issue X out of X police serving your area, x is hearing no Deaf.
Second issue, majority of Deaf are in poverty, struggling to live by for centuries, seeing hearing people get advance and ignore Deafies all the times.
Finally, we are still fighting with communication issues and oppression from hearing people.

With this issue, would every Deaf person be able to think straight if FCC decides to cut the relay service, cut captions on TV and movie and whatever, remove rights to have interpreter. What would happen next? I am pretty sure scenario would be pretty much same what happened in Ferguson.

Deaf people have been killed by the police for no reason as well. All because they couldnt hear their orders and then get shot down like animals. Geez

I got a better idea. Why can't deaf community get on the blacks level. So there! Whatever a police officer kills one of our own we can loot, burn cars and burn down buildings too.

I know what it like being stopped by a cops b/c "They did not like the looks of us , which was my Black b/f,his White buddy and me. The cops also told us they would stop any time they felt like it ,in other words they are going to harass us .And they did , we walking home from a Halloween party and the cops stopped their car and ran after and rough up my b/f! We were doing nothing just walking home from having a fun time at a party. I never ran so fast in my life ,I was running as fast my b/f I was afraid and angry . The cops made me hate and not trust them in the 60's . This kind of stuff is still going on today, something needs to be done to stop this kind of harassment or there are going to a lot more Mike Brown
 
I am sure black have been harassed and abused by white for centuries, this is precisely why time bomb went off as soon as after Jury decide not to indict white cop.

Obama just mentioned that it is not Ferguson's problem, it is rather America's problem which is downright true.

No no! oh please! That is not what I am asking. BUT, eventually when we the Deafies start to notice that cops got away when they killed their "Deaf brother" just like "Black brother" can lead to riot. We the Deafies are NOT there yet and it might get closer and closer. One hope I could have is once black fixed that stupid America's problem they could benefit us and could have avoid "Deaf riot" in future.

It is time for Cops to fix their own damn problems, called "AGGRESSIVE", They need to cut that attitude ASAP otherwise this riot would not be the last one. Trust me on that one!

I agree , someone said that the lid just blew on TV off like I said in a post of mine. My child had a horrible time when we moved here , she is Black and was called racial slurs . This was very painful to me too. Yes this America problem , and something need to be done to fix it.

The police department wants their candidates to be both physically and mentally fit. They require you have 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) under your belt from an accredited college or university. This may be waived, however, if you’ve served three continuous, active duty years for the U.S. Armed Forces or have served one year active duty and have logged 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours).


This will have an effect on the diversity of officer applicants. That's not to say it is prohibitive, but certainly affected.
 
Really, no indict is not a big issue. It does not mean that cop gets away yet. Its still far better than acquit the suspect. The difference between Indict and Aquit is that with Indict, it means that Jurors decides whether the charge has the case. If they don't see case on charge, then the charge dismissed, while Acquit is actually second phase of Indication and it always end up either found guilty or not. Once found not guilty, then the suspect set free and will NEVER be tried again for that charge.
See, Acquittance is really an iron-clad final decision and can not be re-open with same suspect, while Indict is just Juror decided not to hear because not enough evidence present. BUT say, a year from now, the hard evidence has been found, then can present to juror and if they agreed then indict the suspect.

I believe the law intended to prevent too many frivolous cases, really it is all about saving money and time for the courts.

This is mainly why I don't believe the Juror decision is not the only decision that affects the whole community. If cops have not harass black on regularly basis for too long, this Ferguson will be unheard of even if Juror decides no indict.

Just to be clear, I was not attacking Reba's post. She asked what kind of parents would allow their children to participate in mob violence, and my reply was "racist parents'.

I didn't mean for my reply to be read as an attack on Reba's post - it was never my intention.

However, I do see the looters and rioters as racist.
