Really?

iYeah, I can understand how Mariners trained so hard for this perfect salute, and all they see was this crappy salute from our US President with a coffee cup. He better apologize to both of them and offer free coffee for a year.

from what I've read it is more of a 'loose tradition' and it was never a strict or required thing for any president to do.

No, its called Respect. They are there to Protect and serve him as well as any past or future presidents. If it was a "loose" tradition, why dont the marines just flip him off when he is disboarding ...just sayin

I disagree. The fact that he does anything at all shows there is no disrespect.

The president is the, "civilian' commander of the military. There is no salute protocol. While I personally like the idea, the act does not promote the understanding that the military is commanded by civilians. It is a very important point and an important part of our government.

I would still respect those who serve, support and protect my ass.
Ah, then why does he need them anyways? Just call a cab and book a flight with TWA. Let the men in uniform do their jobs they were hired to do instead of being a babysitter.

There's nothing awful about it. No big deal! As long as he salutes, it's better than no salute, right?

Not really.

Personally, I would prefer that President Obama not salute at all, ever. He never served in uniform, and he never learned the proper way to render or return a salute. He has no business saluting.

I agree, he didnt serve he doesnt neet to salute to begin with, but being a leader of the country he should at least respect the ones who are dragging his ass around a little better ( Thats in person as well as thier healthcare)

I got a MAJOR question... if a new citizen is sworn in, (read up on it) how the hell does one hold DUAL citizenships?????
Its in stone you have to give up the other.... and yet....geeze.

Eisenhower did not feel he should salute when he was president b/c he was a citizen and no longer a General . I agree he does give halfass salute . JFK son John gave a better one
at his father's funeral .
