Did you hear about the family who recycled a VCR without realizing $6K was in it? I think there was another story about the person who donated a coat with $13K in it to Goodwill.

Why do people put money in spots that would be easily misplaced or recycled?

I learned the hard way when I had title to one vehicle in a book. An old ex girlfriend threw away the book. I wish people would find safe places to keep those documents or cash.

My wife has a ton of shoes ( what woman doesnt) she keeps them all in the original boxes, well she was going through them to downsize ( get rid of the ones that dont fit anymore or so) and found $10 here and there that she forgot she stashed away years ago.

No, I think you get in the habit of only looking at the numbers which are prominent on every corner of the bills.

There are scanners you can put on a smartphone, and bills can also be braille marked.

Nope, we americans knows our money. We see it everyday, so it's normal to us.

It's funny tho, last year I went to Toronto. I stopped at a Canadian Bank and wanted to convert American to Canadian. So I pulled out $601. Good thing I was listening, cause the woman repeated what I gave her and said '$700 American', I stopped her and said 'No, $601, the $1 is for the currency exchange difference." She laughed, cause they no longer have $1 bills in Canada anymore.

My sister and I where a yard sale in Boston years ago and we brought a little cabinet and as we picked it something started to rattle around in side it. The guy having the sale ran over and opened the door and took a bag of sliver dollars. My sister and I did not had a chance to get the bag. It belong to us b/c we paid for it and everything inside of the cabinet became our as soon the deal was closes . There a few sliver dollars , at least 20 .
