Where can I learn ASL?

I live in Ohio and I'm a teen looking to learn ASL. I'm not looking for a class that will only last for a month, I'm looking for a class that'll teach me until I become advanced. I live in Ohio, by the way.
 
Are you looking for an ASL class with school credits? If you're still in high school you're probably limited if your school doesn't offer the classes. You can take on-line non-credit classes like LifePrint until you're ready for college. Even then, it depends on the college.

Do you have any contact with deaf people?

I'm not looking to take an ASL class for high school credits, I don't care about that. I'm also not in contact with any deaf people. Online courses won't help because I'll only be able to learn if it is face-to-face.

I'll try to figure out something. Thanks for trying to help!

Exactly why do you want to learn ASL? That is, what do you plan to do with that skill?
 
check with a college in your area and see if they offer ASL classes. that's pretty much all I can say.

Because I would really like to take on another way of communicating and ASL just happens to interest me the most. As for what I plan to do with the skill, I plan to use it to translate for people who do not know ASL. Also, the deaf culture really interest me.

If that's the case, then eventually you'll have to attend a college for those classes.

In the meantime, if you don't on-line classes and your high school doesn't offer anything, you'll have to check community resources such as continuing ed college classes, YMCA, churches, local affiliates of RID and NAD, hospital community classes, state school for the Deaf outreach programs, etc. If you do find a community class, be sure to ask specifically if it is an ASL class, not just a generic sign language class (which is usually signed English or a pidgin version).
 
Lol no I just didn't read all the posts and saw his correction about not being able to take all 1-5 in a single class. I love asl! I am taking asl 3 at the moment.
