How many of you are always looking for ways to save money on text messaging?

oh nice, that is pretty reasonable.

I definitely will have to shop around then. I need to have some voice, if even 800 minutes a month in voice, with the rest of that package.

My mother is crippled and has a speakerphone so she can talk. She can't use computers or anything like that. She has limited function on her right hand. Her left hand, she can't use at all.

As for the voice/talk plan... this is what I find:

$39.99 for 450 mins Talk
$59.99 or 450 mins Talk and Text.

Might not be much difference, only if you add $39.99 for 450 mins... would come to $90 for the unlimited text and 450 mins talk. But if you use Text only plan... I believe if you use voice, costs more depending on peak and non peak .25 cents a min or something like that.

Some of us like to get in eachother's hair, ya know? :P What you described I have already known and considered. That's one reason why I use quite a bit of data. Like I said, I'm always going somewhere so I don't bother with wi-fi sources.

Haha. Yep, I know how it is. :)

You could always go to a restaurant that has free wi-fi, but of course, it is not as secure as the wi-fi at your home, provided your wi-fi uses security algorithms like WPA.

The rate for minutes will cost more if one just has a text/data only plan. For instance, since I only have a text/data plan, the rate of 0.40 per minute will be applied if any minutes are used.

I dont text on pc. no need to. I also have unlimited on phone. Always on wifi somewhere at least half of time. If i text on pc then I use facebook so that way I can continue conversation either on phone in bathroom or on pc. otherwise I will only text on phone to keep my contacts simple. I dont need another list.

not me. Mine's unlimited.

ditto here too.

unlimited .. And that option had been around for quite a while.

yes, with verizon, you can't drop unlimited text messaging plan if you opt in for $54.99 per month to replace the voice plan.

For me - unlimited.

my cell has unlimited everything ... Voice, text including pic texts and data

i have an unlimited data plan, but zero minutes. :)

voice and texting are unlimited on my plan, though i pay quite a bit for data because i'm always somewhere and can't rely on a single wi-fi source.

CON that app for free Text work only on data coverage. Most rural doesn't have data. Good luck on find one.

Those of you that are talking about Verizon you might want to look at Page Plus a MVNO that uses Verizon towers. There are a few limitations but quite a savings. You don't have to get a phone from them but can use any Verizon 3G phone but a 4G phone would have to be flashed. You are not paying any extra because you are using a smartphone.

Here is their site: https://www.pagepluscellular.com/

And here is a forum run by a dealer that does all business over the net: Kitty Forums

Here is a site that someone posted about on the Kitty forums about switching to Page Plus Page Plus Cellular: How I'm Paying $30 a month for Verizon Coverage - Practical Cents

I have no interest in these other that having a good experience in using Page Plus and Kitty Wireless.

Hmm. Well, I'm not sure how to resolve that, but may I suggest that you take a look on your phone? The reason why I say that is because some phones have a TTY option, like mine does. You may be able to use that?

The TTY option on cell phones is just a setting to allow you to connect a TTY to the phone. Everyone I have checked you connect the TTY like you would a headset to the phone. It does not allow you to use just the phone as a TTY.

I learned something new.

That's what I found out. No good for me.

unlimited, unlimited talk and unlimited data $20 a month don't ask me...

Quit texting? I have unlimited minutes, data, and texts on a prepaid number with 3G and only pay $50 USD a month. No contract required. That's with a smartphone. Cheaper plans have less but unlimited texting and minutes

I have unlimited data for 4G.

I have unlimited data for 4G.

Exactly.... I was wondering who is out there looking to save money on their texting... isn't just texting alone cheap as dirt already? I get unlimited everything for $40 a month... What more could you want cheap wise from there? :hmm:

Yeah, mine is around $50 a month everything unlimited. Some people choose their budget wise with the service they choose. I'm not sure how prepaid works if it's the same as a data plan contract.

I have unlimited data for 4G.

Mine is a local prepaid service. I bought my iPhone 4s and paid for the phone and everything in advance. I just went with what I can afford right now and haven't switched to a big carrier. I wouldn't qualify for some plans as some users on the forum (deaf/HOH plans)...at least I don't think I would. I've never looked into them before. I have unlimited everything just no 4G (mine only has 3G, I believe). However, I rarely call people myself and immensely busy so maybe a slower connection keeps me focused on school and so forth.

I like my cheap phone budget though. That is what matters. :D
