paying a fine? I heard on the news today cops are warning people to clean off the snow of their car roofs or they could end up paying a fine.

I once saw a person driving with a few " of snow on their car roof and the snow slid down over the windshield and the driver was not able to see the road for a few seconds, I got out of that driver way in a hurry.

I heard that on the news, too.

I don't have to clean snow off the roof of my car. :giggle:

Ok you do not have to rub it in! LOL! When I saw this on the TV I was glad to hear the cops where going after people driving with snow on their car roofs. Some streets are very narrow in my city and a driver could hit a child or pet if they can't see for a split second.

Well right now its 85 degress outside. Any sign of snow im pretty sjre it will melt.

It's been the law here for the last five years at least. $100 fine for not cleaning the snow off your car, $1000 if you're driving a truck. I thought the big concern was about when you get out on the highway and pick up speed and big chunks of snow start flying off your car at the driver behind you.

Iowa law only requires clearing windshield, mirrors, head and tail lights, and licence plates. You don't have to clean the roof or even the rear window if you have two side mirrors.

But most people clean them anyway.

There are no laws about clearing off roof either. That is good. You know that roof of some vans can be taller than the individual themselves.

How do you clear off roof of a Dodge Sprinter???

push broom.

don't know if there's such a law where I live, but I clean off the roof of my car anyway. I don't like all that snow sliding down my windshield or back window when driving, so I brush the snow off. I hate driving behind people who don't clean the snow off the roof of their cars, sometimes that snow comes flying onto my windshield!

We don't get snow here but cars and trucks driving down from the summit will have snow. It can be pretty dangerous, it starts to melt right about where I drive on the freeway. The big rigs throw up a lot of ice and snow.

That is true too about being concerned the snow could hit a car behind you.
I happen to see the snow slide right onto a driver windshield and that scary because the car was traveling in the other land toward me. I just got a 911 reverse call saying there another parking ban in my city. So I can't bring Marty to the park in the morning .

I clean off my signal lights too , so people will know when I am going slow down a little to make a turn.

That is a good rule ( law whatever ). So many times every day when there is snowfall I see people driving around with just the driver side windshield cleaned off. They are accidents waiting to happen. Maybe it will take a fine to wake them up and take just a few more seconds to clean off the whole car............

As long as you are not going anywhere. I found that people seem to have no time to clean out the snow from their car and they were in a hurry to go somewhere. That would mean that they should get up early enough to warm up the car and clean off the snow before going to the destination. :hmm:

We don't have any snow on our car roofs. It very rarely snows here.

Yes it is law here in Missouri now, especially semi trucks, the ice/snow breaks loose from hood/roof/deck and causes accidents as well as damage property ( broken windshields/dented body)

That is too much common sense for some people. I hated to wake up earlier to clean my car when I was working but I did anyway.

Just make it dirty. That way, when they try to fine you, just tell them you didn't have any clean snow on your roof - it was all dirty.
