How did you improve your speech?

Meaning you could potentially die? Now I understand why.

I did NOT improve my speech with drinking... we'll just get that out there right now... Just to say I was somewhat on topic for a second. :D :laugh2:

I'm allergic to dust, and pollen. The more serious allergy is dust, while not life-threatening, can make me very sick for a week or more, because that's what happened a few years back, when I touched a thick layer of dust, and it weakened me pretty good.

Lets not get started on my list of allergies. Just probably the worst one is apples. Thsoe things i cant even touch.

Remember that it is not a chat, chat. You are suppose to make comment about how did you improve your speech? That is what we need to talk about in this thread.

As for me, it is no big deal about making perfect speech. No one is ever perfect so why talk about it?

Ummmm….okay people have gone off the tangent. Anyways I am not talking about making my speech perfect but more articulate and clear like how it used to be. It seems that I have forgotten how to produce certain phonemes or letters.

He is 7. And well no one in familu is willing to send him to a reside tial deaf school. Neither does he want to go. And there been no program for deaf kids here i am going to teach him what i can. Also he has some other disabilities to take into account and well he doesn't trust too many people.

Aww.....that's too bad that there's no local dhh program.....that's usually the best placement/way for older dhh kids to learn sign.....Do suggest to your boyfriend's family that the option of res school should be on the table as an option, especially when he's a little older...like middle/high school age (when learning becomes VERY academic...even learning disabled kids and slow learners can be lost in that type of setting)....They may never take advantage of res school, but it's good for everyone to know that it's a possible option KWIM? Especially since he's got other issues.....I know people bash Deaf schools....but they really are good for kids who while they're academic, they'd be underserved at a hearing school, especially with the fact that most hearing kids at a mainstream school are now on the college bound track, and there's not a lot for kids who don't fit in that demographic..One thing you can say about Deaf School and that at least, it does at least, give kids functional academic abilties......I'm unfamiliar with his additional issues....but there's always the possibilty that with the right tools it might turn out he's not as affected as was orgionally thought......even kids who are "just" dhh often find ASL and deaf stuff to be incredibly helpful in terms of academic progress.
There's always the option of camp at Deaf School when he's older.....and they usually do have a lot of HOH kids who are beginning to learn ASL......heck there are usually all kinds of Deaf camps (religious, deaf school based etc).......there are a lot of resources out there.....and Deaf camp is an excellent must have option for mainstreamed dhh kids.....it can and really does help them in SO many ways.....especially socially and emotionally and giving them a strong community/place to fit in...
Finally, please do pass on info about American Society for Deaf Children:American Society for Deaf Children - Home

I will tell them. But i dont think they will let hom go into a residential school. Even less because he was extrenly unwilling to go. But yeah....there is other reasons, mostly medical for him to not go.

If he's unwilling to go, there's not a lot you can do. However, if he's willing to learn ASL from you, while you're taking classes, you might be able to teach him just enough to get by. That's what's important right now-- his survival skills.
