11 years old girl barred from selling mistletoes...

Well, at least it has a happy ending after TV news reported the story. Media like TV news is powerful.
 
My boys used to sell Mistletoe for extra Xmas $$....(when they were much smaller).....No one ever complained!

Where did they sell the mistletoe ? I can see where the city is coming from , if they allowed the girl to sell mistletoe in the park they would have to let other people sell things without getting a permit. People would be trying sell all kind of junk in the park. And each state and city has their own laws and rules.
 
Yeah it's not that she can't sell mistletoe, she can't sell ANYTHING without a permit. He told her she could sell them from the sidewalk outside the park, she could have done that.......

Some people like to get a lot attention by being on TV today. I think it has to do with all the crappy reality shows on TV . People want their 15 minutes of fame for the most stupidest of thing today. If this not news and I can't even see why it was on the news in the first place.

Right!! Personally, I think the only reason the anyone did a story on it because they figured it would grab attention, make a good sound bite......people love to get riled up, and they could take this as a part of the "war" on Christmas, even though it's not. But they can get all upset, they won't let her sell mistletoe??!! War on christmas. A lot of people won't think about the fact that she could have selling socks and they would have told her she needed a permit.
 
speaking of that... Here where I now live, you have to go to city hall and purchase a $1 permit to hold a yardsale, its good for 2 days Wednesday and Saturday of the same week....stupid, but I can list stuff on craigslist for sale, they come, they buy and I don't have to get permits... complete idiots.

I never heard of needing a permit to have a yard sale you think it would good for Sunday and Saturday as that is when most people have a yard sale.

Yup, the greedy ass government is looking for ways to make revenue! For example... My floors cannot be the wood boards ( tongue and grooves ) that the house was originally made with, even sanded and finished, They have to be covered with laminate, carpet, vinyl or ceramic...isn't that some bullshit? It was never like that in the city, but out here in the county they are looking to rob every penny out of our pockets... so as the saying goes...

How would they know about your floors? Do they inspect every house? :shock: Wood floors are beautiful. A lot of people like them. Sounds like your county government is a communist since you don't have a freedom of choice.

Since his is a major remodel I think it does need to get inspected for a certificate of occupancy. Still, I've never heard of the flooring material being a problem unless there was asbestos in it, which wouldn't be the case with wood floors.

really ARE CRAZY!!! I can't stand reality shows , the only reason there are so many they are cheap to put on the air. I happen to like quality shows that have people that know how to act. You're nuts!!

The story about a girl who worked hard to support her dad who didn't have enough money to buy her braces by selling the mistletoe that she cut and wrapped by herself and that she didn't know that she was not allowed to sell it in that place...I don't see anything wrong with that being news. You must be joking to complain about it. Obviously you are jealous because you are not on TV.
