What I don't understand between prisoners and those free Americans who earn living. There are bunch of Americans that work very hard, some do work 14 hours every day and earn their living, and average working people work almost every day to make living, why prison is exempted from that? How can labor camp be cruel and unusual in prison while free man have to work hard and earn? This is something that Americans seriously missed out causing flaw in our justice system.
I would agree that this would be cruel and unusual when prisons giving lashes like in Saudi Arab, Singapore and some other countries does.
The idea of labor camp is very simple, giving them basic value of labor and they got to earn them and use their labor to repay for their crimes. No free cards for them. Sitting and do nothing simply give them free card to be excuse from working to earn living. Sad!
The truth is most hard core criminal don't want to work and earn living and that needs to be changed.
