I'm refer to college, my discussion include college as well.

I doubt that K-12 schools have those option, even residential schools (deaf schools) too. Many K-12 students, especially hearing students come to school and come back to home, so they are care under parent.

Ok :cool2: But the article in the OP is about grade schools and high schools. Just making sure you were aware of that.

Yes, I just gave an example about this link, but it is broader discussion for transgender students and I just want to see any members have idea.
 
Isn't that safe for teenage to have sex-change? They usually change during adulthood.

My old college had unisex bathrooms for the transgender students and those who wanted to use the unisex bathrooms.
 
I was bullied at the school for the deaf for being gay. It was very rough on me. It was horrible!
 
i use which ever toilet is vacent que for womens is a hulliation for men small que (this apply to london theatres and train stations)
is it possible could make it worse for transgender,we get gay bashing it would not take long before some people would be hanging about toilets humiliating transgenders...maybe all unisex no urinals just cublicles.
i can see good reasons for wanting them and during tranations more so...in england we got radar key for disabled, it key same lock all over country unisex
 
When I was at school I wasn't out as trans, but felt really uncomfortable using the ladies toilets. I had a hard time at school for other things so was given permission to use one of the disabled toilets. When I went back to school after coming out as trans (at 19) there were no unisex bathrooms except the disabled one, so again I was given permission to use that one if I wanted to. Although, the staff were extremely vigilant against bullying at this place and said if I felt comfortable using the mens toilets but got hassle to report it straight away (which I did) and it would be sorted (which it was) :)

I definately think it is harder for mtf trans people than ftm trans people because (from my own experience) people just assume I am a lot younger than my actual age (no facial hair, previously unbroken voice etc) whereas trans-women I know are less conspicuous (some out of choice [trans-pride]) which is where they can run into problems in the bathrooms if people start questioning said person's gender and then said persons 'right' to be in particular bathroom.

I am curious how prevalent of Deaf Transgendered population exists. I know that Gay Lesbian, and Bi are pretty common, I only know of one Deaf person who was rumored to be TG in college... Personally I could care less what bathroom they want to use. I know CA law you can use either regardless of what sex you identify with. A lot pf places are now adding Family bathrooms as well. Love those when i am out with both my kids and I need to take a dump. better than trying to cram 3 people in one stall esp when both my kids are old enough to identify with the boys vs girls bathrooms
 
if you busting for pee mans loo or a bush etc i dont care who using it but no like loo that used as cottaging
 
I'm in the 'bible belt' so you can guess how the people around here feel about anything different. Sad 'culture' or rather lacktherof where I live.

Trans is NEVER going to be a big thing.....it's a VERY small population....Very small.......

It's a small community, but since they've got LGBT backing and the LGBT community is so large, things will change... eventually... :aw:
 
There's lots of places where I am that are labeled as "family bathroom", or have pictures of both the stereotypical "male" and "female" icons together on the door of one bathroom. I'm also finding some bathrooms labeled "unisex" which is cool...Personally I don't care who uses what and I'll use whatever bathroom is available - I've used "men's" when "women's" was full or had long line.
 
They usually are labeled as family bathrooms, which is common in malls or sometimes in gas stations or busy locations.
