$10 roll of quarters sitting on a chair in one of the classrooms at Gallaudet before class started. Pocketed it. Can't remember what I spent the money on. Also, found a 1946 silver dime that was under an old piano keyboard, a piano that I was stripping down to the 46 lb pure aluminum plate that holds the piano strings so I could have it recycled and get money out of it. That was about three years ago.

Perhaps, but it doubtful that the money was marked and Kristina could have spent it slowly over a few years.

I consider myself to be honest, but that must have been really tempting. I have been very honest with smaller amounts of lost items -- but I honestly don't know what I would have done if I had been in Kristina's place.

I'd like to think I'd do the same thing, but you can't really know until you are tested.

I found $20.00 in a park one day, attached to a money clip. The clip obviously didn't stay clipped. I couldn't think of a way to figure out who had lost it so I kept it.

One time Verizon applied a payment to my account that I hadn't made. It was for 43 dollars and change. I called them and e-mailed them multiple times to let them know I hadn't made that payment. Finally someone told me that they couldn't correct my account until someone complained that one of their payments hadn't been applied to their account.

I've worked in accounting and all I can say is if that is true, Verizon has a truly unique system.

After that conversation I just gave up and subtracted that amount from my next bill so my balance would be zero.

Verizon is a strange company. (I have other stories.) They are proof that a company can get too big to fail.
 
I have been on the other side of this too. I had a money clip with $800 fall out of a golf bag and it wasn't returned.

One time my wife took off her wedding ring in a nice restaurant to wash her hands... there was a dish there. (apparently this is common :dunno: ) and she forgot it. I called the next day to see if they had found it..... and they said "oh,that's what it was". Was? Turns out the lady who found it wouldn't give it to the Mgr but instead left her phone number saying only "Someone left something of value here and they will call for it, give them my number." Which was pretty cool. So my wife goes to pick it up and took her a nice reward. The lady would not accept the reward and said that before my wife could have her ring back they had to have a talk. My wife agreed and then the lady tore her a new one for 5 minutes about being irresponsible and about how women would kill to have a nice ring and so on. :lol: Then she gave her the ring.

I found a deposit bag full of money from a local pizza chain store. It was Huge Full Of Money. I did take it to the bank where the deposit slip was. They were asses. They acted as if I was a criminal. I felt then that I should have kept the money or tried to take it to one of the restaurants but did not know since there are 3 in town.

Well, not exactly. Zellers will still be operating after 2013. However, there won't as many Zellers stores as there are now. Hudson Bay Company owns the Zellers brand.

Target bought a large number of leases that belonged to Hudson Bay Company. It was a part of a deal they made, Target agreed to buy the leases and then close them down to prepare for a full conversion to from the Zellers brand to the Target brand.

Eventually, Zellers stores may disappear for good.
 
You mean how many coins and dollars total that I found on the ground at the park, carnival fairs, bowling alleys, arcade, on the street, on the floors of the stores and malls?? In a year or all together since I was a little kid? It is impossible to remember and impossible to count them. Countless of pennies and nickels! Once 10, 20 dollars on the curbside.
 
I found $20 today on the sidewalk - no one in sight to attempt to return it to. I have been watching too much Breaking Bad, so I cleaned it promptly. Not sure what I will do with it.

instead of cleaning it - you should just simply go to a store or bank and exchange it for a new bill lol
 
While snorkeling in Puerta Vallarta on our honeymoon I found a 50 dollar bill. No one was around so I kept it.

I really like finding my own momey though. Like when changing purses I found $20:)
 
Walking home late at night with friends after the movies and skating, During a severe storm found $200 in $20's scattered throughout the bushes at a bank parking lot ( figured someone lost it from the ATM during the strong winds) no one ever claimed it so we used it for our weekend fun ( skate rink, movies and dinner ) divided among all of us in the group (5)
 
Here is a story, a landlord offered me a house to rent because he wanted to evict his step son out of his house because he was not keeping the house clean. So, I took it and had to clean up. Guess what I found? "Silver" (Not just pennies) coins all over the house! Its basically EVERYWHERE. Me and my wife collect and it was significant amount. Worth the payback for cleaning up pigsty house.
