My smog license expire.....

My smog license expire today at end of day....first time in 19 years. I been never let my smog lic expire. Because I've not hear from community college for sign up the BAR 2013 Update Training course last winter, went to check out online, found out the training course begins on mid May. I say myself, oh sh-t. I signed up for this course last month ago. Hope to resume my smog job at the end of May..

Yes. I will. Smog license renewal is every 2 years and required Update emission training course completion form. I never miss the emission update training class since 1994. I remember the interpreter say something like Sign Up class for next update training course when I leave the class last time. I thought it is not me, its for other technicians. I misread her something cuz she was not a good interpreter. I probably realized that if I sign up for next update training class, they will mail me a letter of enrollment. That's why I didn't hear from them.

Maybe use a calendar reminder like on Google Calendar or wherever to help remind for future? Or even make a notes on phone? :)

Yes it might sometimes sound silly to make calendar date reservation in advance but it could help sometimes.. Like people's driver's license expiration date, etc! :)

After all there's only so much our brain can handle and the funny of forgetting things from 5 minutes ago but can remember things from over 10 years ago! ;)

I took 2 recertification ASE exams last week ago, passed both exams: A3R- Manual Drive Train& Axles and A8R- Engine Performance to retain my ASE master technician certification

Head up but I am not good with my smart phone and computer too. Thank for advising...

My ASE Master Tech expired. have not been working in the industry so I just could not justify paying to keep them active. Supposedly the testing is better now, all online. when I did it, you had to go to the testing location and it was only 2x a year. a real pain in the butt

Seem you has hard time to find job with an ASE master tech certification. I don't understand it. You know that ASE launch 4 testing schedules a year no 2 tests a year more. No pencil/paper more. Use computer at the testing center in your location. No more waiting for test results. When you done exam(s) then get instant test results. No pain in the butts more. One thing is you have to pace the exam when the time is up (expire).

Maybe deaf discrimination. I had a hard time to find job even I had two AAS degrees for auto and diesel.

Should be. Very difficult to find job with these certifications. If you possess a smog license and ASE certs, is very easy to find job in California with clean record of employment.
 
Got new licenses

I finally resuming smog check performs last Monday after submitting a proof of a 2013 Update 16 hour Training Course certification to the BAR office to reactivate my license. Yesterday, I got 2 new licenses that I never seen them before... One license is for Smog Check Inspector and One license is for Smog Check Repair. What a heck with 2 licenses. Since I had one license for Smog Check Technician for many years. Now they change new rules for smog techs to choose to be an Inspector or Repair technician or both. I choose both cuz I am an emission repair expert and want to do smogs. If you want a Smog Check Inspector alone then you can not repair any failed emission systems. With a repair license alone then you can not test the official state inspection on the vehicle...

same here especially when it comes to calendar thing :lol:

I'm getting better with it slowly.....
