My stepmother's cousin had a pet fox when she was a child. It used to be more common to keep them, also crows.

There is (or was) a den of them living right across the street. Would see the mom and babies all the time last summer. I have yet to see any activity this year, so not sure if there are any new babies or if they have moved away.

This reminded me of my uncle who had a pet skunk. All my life until recently I had thought he had the skunk de-scented. I only learned recently that he didn't. I was surprised! He was gutsy to have a non-de-scented skunk as a pet.
