How does people at Michigan School for Deaf survive? Flint is supposed to be the worst area in USA. Sometimes I wonder if I want to visit. Would I make it out alive? Sometimes I want to be the test dummy and let everyone know if I survive or not.

I have nothing much going on on Valentine's Day so let me know if you're interested in having me be your dummy.

Flint, that sounds familiar.. wasn't that the city that Michael Moore once referred in to one of his lame films?

Roger and Me....we watched in one of my classes at college....
And then again....it's not Soweto......meaning you'll be raped or shot if you even go outside......

I'm not a huge fan of Moore but that was one of his better documentaries. I definitely enjoyed it.

Flint is interesting. It's not so much the crime but as in how much a rich town lost overnight. It was decimated, really.

Bowling for Columbine, I think. I can't remember.

Interestingly, I just did a profile on Michael Moore. Turned out, he was born there.
Yep. Another strike against the city.

Hubby is from Lansing, MI, so we know a lot about Michigan's situation. As a state, it has the best and worst. The big cities are the worst. The upstate and upper peninsula have some of the best.

Interesting!! I did not know Moore was born there. It must have been a prosperous area when Moore was born.

I did a google on Roger and Me. I would love to see it this weekend. I have drove past Flint on highway, but never into Flint.

It's not Bowling for Columbine. It was called "Roger and Me." It discussed the fall and impact of GM. Flint was prominently discussed in it. It was definitely one of his better documentaries. Bowling for Columbine was a POS.

Really? I remember it had to do something with Heston. *googling up*
......

"Moore also interviews young people in the area of Flint, Michigan to learn their shockingly casual views on the use of guns and explosives."

.......

"Moore explores these divisions in his study of a six-year-old girl killed by a handgun in Flint, Michigan. The boy who accidentally killed her had obtained the gun from his mother’s house."

.......

"Moore concludes by questioning the appropriateness of holding NRA rallies in the aftermath of local gun tragedies in Columbine and Flint. While this is certainly much more provocative than the rest of the interview, there were many ways Heston could have chosen to defend this position. Instead, he walks away without speaking, and does not turn when Moore tries to show him a picture of the girl who was killed in Flint. "

Thank you. I would love to see that Columbine movie too. I appreciate you coming up with that one.
