Now -- I am curious to know about the various laws about hunting with bow and or gun in your state or area. Someone told me that they cant hunt deer if the tree stand is less then 100ft from road. or NYS allowing crossbow law expires this year .

I'm a proud gun owner but I've never understood killing an animal for sport, gun or arrow. Why is this so relaxing for some people? I'm sure you can google this but just the heads up, in Taxachusetts, you really can't do much.

Its not a sport, Its a natural instinct for survival, Hunt your food, eat and live. Thats why there are laws so its not a sport, to protect the environment and the species as they were once almost extinct (certain breeds)
I recently got my hunting license and reason you cant hunt close to roads and such is because of the projectiles danger. An arrow is dangerous until it loses it momentum and falls to the ground a bullet can travel further, always check past your visual points for homes, other hunters, roads...ect...

Too true. 90% of hunters eat their game. Delicious and more healthy than what you get at the grocery store. How else you going to taste something like squirrel, rabbit, duck, goose, deer family?
Of course there is the 10% who ride around on ATVs thinking they are hunting. But even they tend to eat what they shoot.
The 90% tend to take their game with one shot. Except for doves, they always gave me problems going away.

well -- with prices going up all the time, meat is expensive and we need to eat. Just getting a rabbit or deer puts food on the table.
Same goes for chicken, cows, pig. You all ate meat from these domestic animals.
If you raise your own chickens for eggs and one of them is bullying the other chickens and harming them by pecking their eyes out. What do you do? kill it and eat it of course. same with cows and pigs.

I wonder if you are allowed to shoot away from near road so projectile would go into woods instead of roads. They should have a map that tells you where you are allowed to hunt. In Kansas, they tells you what section of State of KS allow to hunt on certain month. For example, they allow hunting Antlered Deers from Aug to Nov and after Nov to Jan, Antlerless deers and also they have three different section where Whitetail deers, Mule Deers, and Pronghorns. They even have Elk in one county of KS far north of Topeka, KS (it's consider big game hunting). OFC there are rules that you can't shoot near road or city like you mentioned above.

Remember that if you cross State line as "non resident", getting a permit for hunting would bury your wallet with cross on top. It cost more for non resident than resident of State.

So Basically, you'll have to go to bars and ask group of hunters or get in touch with Dept of Wildlife to ask them where are good place to hunt without worrying about restrictions that you mentioned above.

It all depends. If deers are a pest or overpopulated in the area, It is good reason to hunt to thin out herds of deer or kill the pest (commonly in farm area where it eats up farmer's crop and trample it which cost $$$'s). Not only hunting deers, In Southern States such as Mississippi, Louisiana, Albama, Arkansas ect, there are plenty of wild Boars or Feral pigs that you don't want to mess with. It'll grow up to 1,000 + lbs and can trample and maul you with its tusk. It's considered pest because it have gone into city and kids and adults have been mauled or killed by big pigs so they must hunt it to keep it away from city. Make sense, It's not only a game, it's a neccessary measure for safety.

If you have eaten Mc Donald's burgers or any burgers, you should be aware that how they killed cows in factory, one I saw in youtube that they have machine that pick up cow and lift to "stand" and they put "heart puncher" machine in front of cow and punched out the heart to kill it instantly so they can prepare it for hamburger grinder. So Doesn't it sound more cruel than hunting itself?

most dont, hard to get since mad cow disease...i could eat fresh road kill nothing against that...i read about a couple who go out looking just for that then freeze it eat it..animal death not wasted but i not tried it myself

You have to be a certain distance from roads to shoot, and you cannot shoot towards or across roads. As far as crossbows, if you are disabled you can get a doctors note and it will allow you to use a crossbow. there is an exemption to crossbow usage.

Dont know which one you seen, never seen the heart puncher, just the guy firing the nail gun to the brain and slicing the throat to let it bleed out. More humane.

Wild Boars/ Ferrel pigs is more of a sport hunting but is also great eating, look at all the hams/bacon you will harvest from one or a hell of a pig roast BBQ with family. The boars/ferrel pigs damage so much property its unreal, a big issue in texas, but is becomming a problem in missouri. Ferrel hogs are just normal pigs that got loose and became wild, yet destroy a farmers field... Im so ready to fill my freezer next year and possibly have one hell of a BBQ if I get my house done. everyone is invited, I love to BBQ !!!

Ohhh i didnt see this one. guess it is too late now since hunting season is over. If you still want to know. pm me then i ll ask my friends about it.

I ll ask my girlfrineds husbands whose are hunting deer here. So far he has no luck of getting deer this year. He refused to shoot at the young deer. He is interested in the full adult deers but he had no luck. my girlfriend is disappointed becasue she wants me to taste it.

Gun owner is legally liable if they shoot and the stray bullet hits somebody. I learn that never shoot up in the sky because you never know where it will go and land and could kill somebody. Also, depending on what kind of gun your using. Some guns has farther projectile while others have shorter. Shotgun usually have shorter projectile than assault rifles.

Yes, there are map where state owned land for hunting purpose. Have to contact your state hunting agency for more information, here in NYS called DEC.
