US Supreme Court ALREADY killed the Chicago gun ban in 2010, that's 2 years ago and city of Chicago has to respect the court decision, so city council in Chicago replaced with more restriction rather than ban it, so exactly same goes with DC too.

I have doubt about connect between gun and murder, so don't question me, though.

I won't question you.

The idea is that if gun ownership is allowed, criminals will be more scared to attack people.

It will be a deterrent. Kind of like ... it will not be as easy to rob people because they could be armed.

The murder rate and other violent crime are still high than national average, in Chicago and DC.

SF and LA have strict gun restriction too, but their crime is about par or low than national average.

The article talks about the whole country, yes, but it specifically talks about Los Angeles too and the crime statistics in LA.

This article says that overall "crime" has gone down, but that homicides have gone up:

Violent crime drops 11% in Los Angeles in the first half of 2010, but homicides are up slightly. - Los Angeles Times

And a significant jump in shooting victims.

How is that possible if they have restrictive gun laws?

Your article is dated in 2010, that's old new so I posted one is most recent in #46.

You are NOT allowed to CCW or open carry in around DC, Chicago, SF and LA, so it only benefit is home and your property, that it, not street of city.

Where is source with crime data? I believe about many violent crimes happened in crime ridden neighborhood like South Atlanta, so not just college campuses only.

I just think it is an oddity that these gun free zones are not accomplishing what they were designed to do.

What do you think is the reason why they are not working? Is it lack of enforcement? need for more security?

Ok, I have real answer for you.

The effectiveness of gun free zone is depending on how society influences and law enforcement, so it does work in some communities but it doesn't work in some communities.

I think we can both agree that gun violence is a problem. Solving this problem has taken many different approaches. Some solutions seem to work, and others fail.

Perhaps focus should be put on the effective solutions, and discard ineffective policies that do nothing to deter gun violence. In my opinion, an invisible buffer zone does nothing to deter gun violence.
