I have a question for you guys...?

If you noticed, I did not mention school in my original post. I was offering better word choices besides "mute." I don't plan to name schools anything. I was referring to a condition.
OK, I got it. No problem. Thanks for clarifying.

Umm sorry guys. School for the non-hearing and non-speaking? I seriously had no idea that you guys found "mute" offensive, I always thought it was just a word meaning "non-speaking".
I'd be teaching English, and there would be a translator. I'm not really sure how that would work, that was a part of why I asked the question, to see if you guys had any idea.

Not all deaf people are "non-speaking," and not all "non-speaking" people are deaf. Automatically pairing deaf and mute together is inaccurate, presumptive, and stereotyping.

You mean an interpreter. A translator translates documents, and an interpreter interprets dynamic discourse.
