New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees picks up favorable ruling by arbitrator - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com

I don't care much about Drew Brees or the Saints, but this is the right ruling in this case.

Thinking of franchise tags.....

What if I play for the Bears and they tag me 3 times? Then Bears trade me to Lions. Lions tag me 3 times. Then Lions trade me to the Packers. Then Packers tag me 3 times.

Is that fair? I think that there should be a limitation of # of times a player can be tagged. See, Brees was tagged in San Diego, and now in New Oreleans. Maybe Saints will sign him long term instead of tagging him this year. He can have one more tag(after this one) and that is it.

What do you think???

Tags are very pricey..Players are being paid top dollar at their position. Players dont want to be tagged b/c they want more gaurantee money and fat signing bonus.

I really dont care b/c they're already millionaires but I understand their frustration. Make money as much as you can. Ray Rice is not happy and either is Matt Forte.

A team puts franchise tag (only one tag per season if Im correct) on a player so the player cannot leave the team and sign elsewhere.

Yeah, I think only one tag per team per year.

I do hope that Bears can sign Forte long term, but Bears are being cheap. They know that RBs have a short career so they don't want to overpay for it.

Exactly...I understand why rb's get upset and threaten to hold out. I get that.. Hell, Forte got hurt late in season and missed rest of games. Thanks to Derrick Johnson. (Derrick also ended Darren McFadden's season last yr) I know Forte missed mandatory mini-camp last month...b/c he is frustrated.

Bears are taking hard stance. They know they have other RBs that can step in place and play a full season.
