Yeppers. I hope they hold out too. That would be the ruination of NYC.

I wonder about that since the mayor is in support of having a Walmart in the city. However, the city council has the power, not the mayor.

Ah. I wonder if the Council is pro Walmart.

MYOB? If everyone M'dTOB, there would be no AD....

Actually, it's usually the investors.

Billy Crystal created a lot of jobs in his upcoming film "Parental Guidance". When his film crew showed up where I work, there were landscapers, chefs, stunt crews, extras, etc. Etc. And plenty of RVs (salesman had to sell them, manufacturer had to make them).

All that for a 10 second scene.

True that. But it is not the actors. In fact, the same system that creates the jobs for the key grips are creating the jobs for the actors. The actors are as much at the mercy of the system as any employee.

In a way, that is true since he is one of the producers on the film. However, the majority of movies out there are funded by investors.

As a producer, not an actor. Once again, it is the production company, investors, producers, that create the jobs. Not the actors.

Right, actors can't act if they have no materials to work with. They have to be hired in the first place. They do not contribute anything to the production other than acting in most cases.

However, there are actors who do own their own production companies. It's how some of them are able to get big stakes in the movies they are involved with. For instance, Tom Cruise. There are quite a few of them out there, but not many are big players like Tom Cruise is.

Right. However, there would be absolutely no jobs created if there are no investors involved. They are the main source of funding. But the investors need the producers, writers, editors, actors, directors, crew people, hairdressers, make-up artists, the list goes on and on.

Still... my point remains the same. They wouldn't have jobs if there are no investors involved.

I think Mel Gibson is another example.
