I updated Apple added was custom vibrations on my iPhone 4.

I have Custom Vibrations Enabled (On) in Accessibility Options.
I have created a Custom Vibration in Sounds
I have set my 'Vibration' in Sounds to be the Custom Vibration.
When I get a text message or email or notification from ANYONE, I am still get the standard Apple mono vibrate. It is very short and very weak.
I've even attempted to edit contacts individually. Of course when I go to edit a contact and change their Default Vibration to my Custom Vibration, the vibration is already set to my Custom Vibration because that is what I have set to Default anyway. Even if I set it again for individual contacts, I am still getting the standard mono vibration when I get texts, emails, or notifications.

1. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have verified that Custom Vibrations are enabled and I have the default Vibration set as the Custom Vibration...but no matter what, the only Vibrate that ever happens is the single mono default Apple vibrate.
2. I have read on other forums that the custom vibration only applies to phone calls. Well, I don't get phone calls very often, I usually just get texts or emails. If this feature doesn't apply to texts or emails, I will be very disappointed. Can anyone confirm if they are getting the custom vibration to work for text/emails/notifications?
3. Bonus question :) I'm finding out that iOS doesn't allow a specific vibration pattern for the type of notification either (example: short bursts for texts and long bursts for emails - very useful when phone is in pocket during walking or while driving, nice to know whether you've received a text or email). This is frustrating. If nothing to do that, I will be back to jackbreak (Cydia) to get Vibrafications app which can create it to make longer for all incoming email, SMS and Push.

Custom Vibrations works fine for text for me. Other forums were wrong and it's applies on text and email.

Chevy, the custom vibrations work for me on text, email, and push notifications from FB. I am using iPhone 4. If you are using 3GS, that may or may not make a difference. I will text my friend who has 3GS and ask her if she was able to put custom vibrations on her phone or not.

I still confuse about it. Own custom vibrations is longer while getting incoming all of text, iMessage, email and Push? Send how to set up Custom Vibrations and Sounds settings on iPhone 4 to me on PM.

Ok, working on the message.

Nevermind, I'm on my phone, Safari won't let me use the menu to send PMs. I'll try tomorrow on my laptop.

Custom vibratation ONLY works for CALLS. Not text or anything else. Just phone calls. I was soooo disppointed about that! It wasn't clear when Apple say about custom vibration. :(

I agree with you. I had contacted Apple discussion about it but nothing to say. I will return jailbreak (Cydia) soon to get Vibrafications app. Vibrafications for jailbroken iPhone is a tweak that allows you to set custom vibration patterns to different alerts. You can set a custom pattern for individual contacts in mail or sms, or you can set a default pattern for mail and sms in general, and you can define custom patterns for push notifications, or a default one for all push notifications.

Well, have you tried the LED flash notifications on your iPhone? The LED flashes for an instant on texts, email, and push notifications. I still haven't figured out if I can make the LED flash for wake-up alarm.

hang tight - it's still rough on the edge. there will be updates hopefully soon

Okay, I was wrong and I created Custom Vibrations for almost 4 seconds vibration. Then someone texted me and vibration last 1.5 seconds or double vibration text.

I am not complained about it and better than iOS4 since iOS4 had single vibration text and that's it. I missed it a lot. So finally iOS5 have double vibration text plus LED flash are much better. No complained to me.

there's double vibration? hmm.... gotta figure it out!

LED flash is kinda useless to me since it's on BACK of the iPhone. I would prefer to have any kind of visual indicator on front side like LED on Blackberry. I don't like to keep pressing Home Button to check for message. It's stupid.

You can pressing power button to check for message too.

Doesn't have it on alarm unfortunately, but try one of these random apps from the store?

double vibration occurs when you have not checked the message when a text message has been recieved, it vibrates again and again until you open the mesage.

Stop complaining - you're an idiot for getting iPhone 4s.

they can improve it with software upgrade. I don't care if my main screen flashes. that's fine with me.

The iOS 5.0 is buggy…. both custom vibration and LED Flash doesn't work as advertised… not just that… the Email Push and iMessage not syncing properly.. So waiting for updates from Apple soon…

Ugh, IOS5 STILL doesn't have "Find on page" in safari implemented. Looks like I need to go add the find bookmarklet again. It says it's enabled in features of IOS5 online but I can't find it anywhere on my device, huh.

I m too that LED Flash won't work while incoming message and email. They should work for updates with custom vibrations and LED Flash. Jailbreak (Cydia) vibrating and flashing alerts are prefect. Apple is idiot!
