Fear! We (and our laptops) could get thrown out of Starbucks?!

Back to year 2001, a small restaurant with free Wi-fi access. My car parked near restaurant. I carried my laptop. I sat back while surfed website all day and then, Manager walked out of restaurant and he noticed everyone surfed their laptops inside cars by link free Wi-Fi access to his restaurant. He was upset about nobody eat in his restaurant and later, he set up password Wi-Fi access. They gave up.

Well, two starbucks at the same mall. One is in Target and other is just outside..I took advantage of their free WIFI outside Starbucks without ordering anything. :giggle:

Yo, you want to use their services, you have to compensate them for it somehow.

Then why are starbucks and other local coffee shops letting many deaf socials, different type of socials happening around the US happen? They haven't kicked them out. I haven't heard of a case of like that before.

The deafies aren't there with their laptops, lol. I have been to those functions many times and I'd venture to say 90% of the people ordered something.

Deaf socials aren't the problem because there are more people ordering stuff so more profit. It is the lone laptop users who orders one thing and stays for hours and hours using up space that numerous of potential customers could have been using. That's a loss of revenue.

Bottom line is, not everything is free. You have to pay for it. Starbuck did right thing by throw out people who use wi-fi without order anything. They have a right to do so. Wi-Fi is not free! Simple you order something then you get service because you paying with your money. That ain't hard to get like 5 dollars if you are not a lazy. Just saying.

That's a selfish thing to do. Lot of people social with other people at starbucks, study and do homework there. Remember, many college students cannot afford internet at home or don't have internet at home. Some people like the noise and people around when studying. That's why there are tables, sofas, etc for people to use. Not everyone doesn't have to order anything from Starbucks to be there.

That's what college library for.

because the hosts made arrangements with managers in advance. I had to do that for NYC AD Party.

in some area - it's an arrestable offense for theft of service.

WiFi freeloader arrested in Washington and I support this. I hate freeloaders.

so go to park. If they want to study and do homework, then go to library but if they prefer Starbuck setting - then buy something cheap. Come on.... $2? Starbuck is a business establishment... not a public park.

Remember, many college students cannot afford internet at home or don't have internet at home.
can't afford internet? so... how did they afford education, home, and laptops in the first place? beside - college and dorm wifi are free anyway for college students only.

Tables, sofas, etc are for paying customers..... not freeloaders.

to Jiro, Fined $250? Wow, New to me. I'm not freeloader anymore since when i was young and can't afford internet. Now, I own internet as cable modern and My Android device use tethering to my laptop, PC.

Every time I go to starbuck' and there is always crowded. it would be annnnnnooying if they dont pay for the drinks but just sit there. I paid it then i d like to sit there. so i thought it makes sense if they pay their drinks then it's a first come, first service that i cant complain. otherwise i want to see more improving in comforting zone at starbuck then pay drinks then starbuck's atmosphere get nicer and safer.

Don't be surprised to find out some people use their wifi from outside of businesses.

I am not surprised but that don't make it right for them to do that. Does it?
