Rambler American in the junk yard

This is the Rambler American I saw in the junk yard at my mechanic's place.

It's missing the front chrome bumper and one wiper.

Is that dashboard simple enough? :lol:

I have never seen that make and model of that car before. Interesting! Must be one of the compacts in the '50s.

Hmmm, I think it was pretty common back then; it's called a stick on the column. I had a 1948 Plymouth Coupe with a three speed stick on the column.......a fun car to drive.
 
Yea, it was common back then, my dad had a pickup where the stick is on the column. However this one is not quite on the column. Just close to it.
 
I am amazed how little rust it has and seats in near pristine condition. It just needs alot of tlc and elbow grease to make it shine.

It's a great find. It would be a great project for a mechanic. I remember my dad fixing his old truck from the 50s. It was simpler under the hood back then. Now, it's hard to even get to the parts.
 
Our family used to have a Rambler. That, and the Falcon were fun cars. :)

My grandparents used to have a Rambler with a lipstick red body and white roof.

Good ol' days, huh? :giggle:

Yes, I wish someone would rescue it from the junk yard. It looks very simple under the hood, and there's no complex electronics to deal with.

Southern car bodies usually don't have as much rust as northern older cars.
