I'm losing my mind at work

Try to brush off that idiots remark. He's clearly unhappy with his life and wants to bring others down with him. Try not to let him get to you.

oh my.... very judgmental, aren't ya?

or maybe she should do some work at... dang I forgot the name of this famous food joint - a bus where it's famous for cursing - both waitresses and customers.

I saw it in Food Network Channel. It went like this -

Customer: "where's my fawking food???"
Waitress: "Shut the fawk up!!!!!!!!"

:)

"Where the fawk is Sally?"

"She went to shit and a hog ate her!"

Tell 'em to call u thru relay by the gas pumpers or make a poster like Beclak said that to use "STEP", ha-ha-ha.

uh what for? sue him? no such thing.

I said nothing about suing the employer.

Employers are supposed to provide reasonable accommodations. A reasonable accommodation would be putting Lady Solitary on the day shift, so she can more effectively communicate with customers. As she already expressed, a large glass window between her and the customers makes it more difficult for her to communicate with them. During the day shift she has more one on one contact, and if need be she can give them a piece of paper and pen if she is not getting what they are saying.

As a customer on the other side of the glass........ oh nevermind....

Yup.... I was gonna tell you one thing or two.. but not worth it.

I was offering words of support and some ideas for LadySolitary- what exactly is there to tell me PFH? And if you're going to follow it up with, "nevermind" or, "it's not worth it", why even post it in the first place?

The guy sounds like a dickhead. Hang in there, lady!

ladysolitary85, day shift or night shift are no difference... really it just one of those incident that customer get pissed off (he maybe on drugs, or his wife kicked him out of the house, couldn't find any sex partner or going through divorce or whatever), it just that he was in a pissy or PM'essy mood... people go through this during the day time as well. I'm sure you may have no idea what other worker going through during the day time. Both day and night shift, they get all kind of people that come in and go, it's nothing like working in private companies, large companies or working in government. The worse area of the job that you or anyone that allowed people get pissed off are working in convenience stores, gas stations, hotel/motel, those area where you will collect all kinds of odd people. Come think of it... if you work in government, do you see any odd pissy customers come in and bitch at you? No... get the idea? I know it's hard for you to deal with it... you will be getting all kind of people in this world that come in and go.... at this one tiny spot where you work.... you are meeting all kind of people. Same goes for day job.

I'm sorry that you are having rough time. Hang on to it!

It NEVER hurts to keep things documented. And you are never quite sure when, where, or how, the documentation might help.

When in doubt document.

Keeping paper trails is a survival tool in our society.

Its not just for sueing, it could be to protect one self from being backfired. written has stronger case than verbal, whether for defense or offensive. We all know offensive is not always good way to approach.

A good example were if I had issue with my supervisor, I documenting whatever is going on then when the issue gets too big to handle and needs to escalate to management or human resource and having a paper trails will be a major help than have none to back up.

uh what for? sue him? no such thing.

Yup, it based on my experience and it DOES save my ass many times. I have trouble documenting sometimes and I ended up in hot water and unable to prove anything.

 You whinin' about rude customers? Not just you deal with their shit everyday. That's life, lady. I thought maybe you'd know that but I guess not. What if a customer have a gun in yo' face, tellin' ya give me money, sucka?

Tell him Im sorry I dont know how b/c Im deaf? I dont tell ppl Im deaf(unless ask). EVER!

I would never want to work at a gas station or a convenience store due to the many robberies/killings that we have here in my city. And especially not at night!

The glass partition is bullet-proof, right? So it's to protect the clerk behind the counter or booth.

And since Lady is severely HOH, she would have to lip read the customer behind the glass or even resorting to the customer to shout. Telling customers that she is Deaf, could be a dangerous thing also.

Most gas stations and conveience stores here usually have 2 clerks (where I live). They may not always be visually seen, but they are there. It's a lot safer to work in 2's than alone!

Working at night, a lot of drunks go in for more beer & gas...hence the vulgar language and getting mad if they have to repeat and repeat what they are asking for. Some people really don't give a rat's ass about anything or anybody!
