Reasons:

  • Terrorists are celebrating it too
  • Over 5 trillion dollars spent in all sorts of stuff "protecting us"
  • Patriot Act
  • TSA grabbing your childrens junk
  • Most importantly: Freedom has been rolled back more than ever....

I know, if I don't bbq, they win. But really... Which is better; just move on - show that they mean nothing, or have a national remembrance where everyone says "oh... do ... not.... forget..." Of course, this is in history books and we will never forget. We don't need to be reminded about it.

Just a nod to the fallen, and move on is what I am going to do.

Win against what? The Radicals are just pissy their religion is undergoing an Islamic Reformation and they see the Westernized Muslims as brainwashed by Anglo-American consumerism. That's what the whole freakin' thing is about.

Too bad many are thinking it's an "us versus them" conflict.

i agree with PFH, it sux, and its a waste of time, its really just a political excercise to stoke the 'terrorism fear' at same time reinforcing the Nationalist discourse.
 
I will put the flag out today and may go to a special church service tonight. Otherwise, I will spend the day like any other.

I feel the "bad guys" (terriosts, theives, etc) have won with all the freedoms we lose because of all the "protection" in places.

I refuse to live in fear.
 
I agreed with PFH, this is not time for celebration. This is the time of reflection and move on.

The fear we have is just the fear itself and yeah FDR was right all along. Terrorist purpose is just to scare shit out of Americans that is all. They knew they can't invade us which leaves one option and it is called terrorize us.

I want freedom back! And I DO want Uncle Sam preserve our freedom and take away freedom from terrorist.
 
The airwaves are inundated with "specials" full of outright lies. It makes my blood run cold.
I'll read a book instead.
 
I'm not even going to watch. I know it's all political ploys. I really hate how the country is run and what hypocrites we have as leaders. Makes me sick.

My husband refuses to watch any of the 9/11 specials on TV.

You got it backwards.....The government is controlled by the Media
Witness the fact that any politician has a speech writer to make sure the speech plays out well in MM. OTHERWISE, that person will be torn into two by MM.
