Israel taking out a Syrian tank

eh... this is silly and impractical.

Maybe not folks. Skeptic that I am, I googled "israeli tank bomb syria phosphorous" and got lots of hits.

Here's one example -- from a 2009 thread at forums.military.com:

This is not an Israeli missile nor is it a Syrian tank. This is a full weapons load test on an old challenger by British Forces to aquire test data for the Missile.

This is an old 15+ years old video of a British live fire the missile is either the Milan or the Hot anti-tank round I can't remember which but I can look at the VHS tape of it I have to verify if anyone is that intersted. The effects are typical of most HEAT rounds (High explosive anti-tank). All there is to them is a shape charge and depending on type, a self forming penatrator. The vehicle is actually "killed" by the secondary explosions the ammo and fuel burning and cooking off.

Go to youtube and type in, "Armed tank get hit by anti-tank missile."
You can hear the announcer observing and reporting the fact that it's an unmanned tank running on remote.

Many more hits that basically say the same thing from other web sites linking to the same footage ...

Sigh....

Wag the Dog, anyone?

I feel like we need to keep track of the posts made here on AD from certain posters and what percentage came out to be fake.

All I know is that there are no ATGM missiles that are filled with phosphorous. So whether or not the blog author was talking crap - Israel has been busted for using phosphorous before.

Israel admits using phosphorus bombs during war in Lebanon - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News

Well, AFAIK, Haaretz is a real paper so your second source is credible.

Not sure what you mean "been busted for" -- as the article notes, its not an illegal weapon and our country has those type of weapons also.

Hopefully one day all of humanity will evolve to the point where there will be war no more ... but in the meantime, most nations have armed forces.
