Worst states

Another good one, Jersey.

The reason Jersey (The Toxic State) isn't half bad is because every once in a while, a hurricane hits her and cleans her right up!

I went to Memphis at few times and they are ugh... okay... ugh... but they do have some good areas, just like New Orleans.

Of the places that I lived, not just visited, Great Lakes, IL, 1971-72, was the worst for me. It was very depressing.

Honestly, I have lived in quite a few states and cannot think of the worst. I loved them all.

For me, West Little Rock and College Station, a suburb of Little Rock near the airport. I don't even go on Baseline road after dark. That will guarantee anyone a mugging.

I'd have to agree with Oakland CA. I was going out there to see a show, and as soon as we all got out of our cars, boom, gun shot. The city looks horrible! People looks aggressive and unfriendly! No thanks I'll pass.

Jackson, MS is the most creepy at night, it feel like someone is going to rob my car anytime.

Worst city I've been is probably Oakland,CA. That place is whack. Aggresive panhandles, they know you aint from the area. They hide behind gas stations to attack you for money and clothing. On Sat. nights during football season, you'd see prostitutes on streets from hotels. CRAZY! 2nd worst city Ive been to is New Orleans. Whew, tough, tough crowd.

Why was Great Lakes bad back then? I've been in area much recently and it doesn't look bad. Then again, I was born in 1977. What happened back there if you don't mind. I currently live like 40 minutes from Great Lakes.

Everybody will have different views on whether a state is good or bad. I could say that Missouri is my worst state, but of good did occur there. I could say that Florida is, but heck, Florida always gets a bad reputation, but it's still a great place. Other than that, I haven't been anywhere long enough to say. Changes happen to have places upgrade or befall different areas. Currently, this economy is really taking it's toll on a lot of areas

Wow, nice pics of Oakland. I missed out, I guess. I stayed at hotel very close to A's/Raiders stadium. Next time I fly out to Oakland, I'll be sure to visit Lake Merritt. :)

I lived in the women's barracks on the main base there. I worked in a small command on the base. It was a depressing base. There wasn't much to do there, the climate was uncomfortable, and most of the men there were disgruntled draftees back from Vietnam. Drug use was rampant and open. Guys would flash and hoot obscenities at the women as we walked by. Lack of discipline was terrible.

The civilian community outside was much better in North Chicago. It was dingy and dangerous. The area around the base and train station was streets of bars, pawn shops, fast food joints, etc. I got mugged there once (purse snatched).

I mentioned the date because I hope things have improved since I was there.

It looks better there now, but not that much better. I wouldn't risk walking out there on my own.

Worst state....not that I know of so far. Worst city I've been to is....hmmm...thinking....not that I can recall of. Anyone give me tipsters?
