Tax on rich people

Just FYI:

"Most Popular Congressional Investments, 2009

Just like many Americans, our elected officials like to play it safe with their investments, betting largely on blue chip companies across diverse industry groups. The chart below shows the most common assets among all members of Congress who served during all or part of 2009, ranked by the number of members invested in them, with breakdowns by party."

Yup, that is why raising tax isn't going to help. We need serious fix on the congress. There is too many hidden conflicts of interest going on that many of us were unaware of.

The problem they got is special interest lobbyist, and they would do anything for them to get more money to run next election. This results more laws specifically protect special interest group.

um.... simple - don't vote for him.

some were married to millionaires. some don't actually have million dollars at hand but only in assets. some are millionaires because of joint accounts with their spouses.
So . . . some Congressmen are gold-diggers? Is that the solution to our economy? Simply marry well?

I hope you too.

simple as that.

I don't shake my finger :nono: at them and criticize them with blind hatred by accusing them for supporting a specific special interest group.

It's very simple... vote for somebody else you like. Senators and Congressmen can EASILY be replaced.

If only citizens can realize that all it takes is a moment of their time to cast in their votes... this doesn't have to happen. But no... it's just too hard for them to do that... and it's just easier to criticize politicians. oh and also it's so much easier for them to cast in their votes for American Idol winner.

How disappointing that they know more about American Idol candidates' backgrounds than any political candidates or even the President they voted for

Because of citizens' ignorance and laziness... special interest groups were able to vote their Senators into office.

So I received 3 raises in less than 2 years and saw my mutual fund growing at modest rate every quarter despite of sour national economy... :dunno:

So... they know how to manage and invest their money to get rich... I don't see anything wrong with that. If people are too stupid with their money or ignorant with money market, well... they have nobody to blame except themselves.

and they have nobody to blame except themselves when they CAN do something to pay less than what they're paying now.

:giggle:

the solution to our economy is to stop being ignorant

I have no complaints about that.

Nothing wrong with that. Too bad they don't have that same expertise when it comes to managing the nation's money.

Blame?

That is even better solution than crying out "Raising tax on rich".

sometimes it's better to raise tax on riches if needed but right now - I believe it's not a right thing to do unless otherwise convinced.

unfortunately... on federal level - they have to work with other difficult and/or unreasonable people.

Better Governor (or mayor) than Senator! :giggle:

just referring to "angry" people with pitchforks, screaming for politicians' heads when in fact... rich people didn't really make them poor... they did it themselves.

Right, Congress need to get their ass up and focus on "We the people" Not "We the corporate" and that is what leads to economy mess.

no. CITIZENS need to get their ass up and start paying attention on what's going on so that they can vote right people to do the job.

Less voting in American Idol... More voting in their districts... that will help solve our economy mess

You nailed it right, I am trying to say clean up the congress mess. I know majority of Americans don't pay attention to congress. They are prone to pay attention to one person, namely Mr. President. Again, this has nothing to do about raising tax for rich people. BTW there are only 3% of Americans that are actually rich. 97% isn't.

No. It's not enough just for them to vote. When uninformed voters go to the polls armed only with their emotions, we get elected officials like the terrorist party scumbags who almost destroyed America earlier this month.

What we need are for people to pay attention in their civics and economics classes in school and care more about the civil process in general and how we are all affected and in this together, not just about who is going to put more money in their own grubby little pocket.

right. that's what I just said - "CITIZENS need to get their ass up and start paying attention on what's going on so that they can vote right people to do the job."

I certainly hope they vote with logic, not emotion.
