I'm still trying to optimize my new BlackBerry. Before I head down to the T-Mobile folks next week to stand in line for their help, I thought I'd see if any tech-savvy ADers can help me out.

Here are some of my issues:

1. When I try to sync between BB and PC for Yahoo Calendar, it starts to sync then I get an error message: Connection to Yahoo server was lost. Then it closes.

2. Right now I've been downloading an update to the BB system, and it's been "Loading" for about an hour. How long does it take?

3. When I try to sync the Yahoo Address Book I get the error message: BlackBerry Desktop Software has stopped working.
Then it closes.

4. I can't get the Visual Voice Mail to work. It shows on my BB as a free included service. I try to do the set up but it won't go thru all the steps.

Sometimes the set up sends me to Web2Go.

Sometimes it sends me to a login, which asks my email address and password. I enter those, and it tells me they are wrong. I know I have them right. So, I click the "Forgot Password" anyway. It asks for the email address. I type that in. I get another error message. Grrrr!

5. How to remove apps? I don't want some of the junk that it came with, like My Space and Smurfs game. I tried thru the apps list on the desktop when the BB was hooked up but some of the apps on my BB weren't on the PC list of apps. Also, I have to Web2Go apps on the menu. I don't need two.

Well, how's that for starters?

Some manufacturers put certain apps in the root directory so that you can't easily delete them. You'd have to go into the root directory which is beyond my capabilities. Maybe someone else can tell you how.

When you set up sync with your PC, you have to authenticate the phone with a code. Did you sign up for mobile yahoo with your phone number? I use gmail and I used the google authenticator app. I switched to gmail because it syncs easily with my phone.

Maybe some of this is useful?

Maybe.

I never before had the synching problem until BB upgraded their desktop software. I've had problems since then. I'll look into the phone number possibility.

:ty:

Yahoo gave me a headache for sync before till I switched to google and make my life more easy. Its work greats for my old BB and iPhone.

if it no longer works - it is possible that Yahoo has ended its free service and that you may need to start paying up to use its "premium" service. This happened same thing couple years ago when using email program.

if not - it is possible that Yahoo changed its configuration setting for better security reason so you may need to start looking hard in its advanced setting and figure it out

It seemed so obsurd for BB to continue to show the Yahoo sync option in sucessive released of the sync manager, that I decided to call BB support. After 2.5 hours on the phone, I was finally told that the Yahoo server no longer supports this feature. --- It's Yahoo's fault.
