14 years old Deaf girl ran over to death by milk truck

Bloody hell, the images that newspapers put out even at this day are just distasteful.

Hmm, according to the article, the girl was playing underneath the truck. Regardless, it's unfortunate that this happened.

Very, very sad story. :(

It's too bad that Pennsylvania writers haven't gotten word that "mute" has been out of use for decades in America.

From the comments below the article, they seemed to be blaming the accident on the farm family being Amish.

Amish is not that stupid. They knew what is dangerous in front of them. There no reason for such people blame on them.

Yeah, I picked up on that, too.

I think it's in bad taste to blame the Amish community for this. Although I do wonder why she was under the truck to start with. It's a terrible tragedy and I don't think the driver will be charged with anything after they are done investigating it.

Yes, why she was under the truck is a big question, but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with her being a part of the Amish community. But as usual, people don't wait for all of the information before pointing fingers.

playing? She's 14. not 4. Seems weird for a teenager to be under an vehicle like that.

She could be developmentally disabled. Chronological age doesn't always tell the whole story.

Why would 14 years old girl play under truck? Sound like something is missing.

Do you have any idea what Walker tanker trailer looks like?

Read the story again, she was playing on and underneath the truck.

Again, I find this tragedy very sad. I feel so bad for her family and her nine yr sister who witnessed her big sister's death. :aw: The victim probably didnt hear driver shut the driver's door and the engine. :(

Always, I mean always warn drivers that you have a deaf+mute child.

I wonder if the driver looked underneath the truck before moving it. I can see several things that may have prevented it. The family warning the driver about their daughter, and/or making sure she didn't play around heavy machinery, and the driver checking around and under his truck. It's a farm, there might have been livestock around the truck.

Regardless, it's a terrible tragedy and my heart goes out to her family, and especially her sister who witnessed the death.

Either that or she went to investigate something under the truck.
Maybe getting something that went under the truck like a ball or some animal.
