Birth Control

As long as you're here, tell me your opinion :giggle:

I dunno but my ex used nuvaring and it worked. the side effect was that she was very bitchy and easily irritated so she stopped using it :dunno:

Coulda been just the side-effect of living with you!!! :laugh2:

(Just kidding, Jiro, just kidding!)

I had irregular periods and massive cramping while I was a teenager and up until my first pregnancy. I remember going to the clinic at school once due to the cramps and I bent the bed in half and ripped the mattress. Doc said it would clear up after my first child. First one, no, 2nd pregnancy, no, 2nd birth, yes. Nothing like that since my daughter was born.

I am pretty experience! I know period control birth prevent! you emotional behavior on birth control I know my gf is period OMG I spoken my ex gf is very tylenon I don't know my gf is very histroy personal period I think!

Years ago, the wife of a colleague of mine had five kids. She loved 'em all dearly, but she said she had tried 5 different methods of birth control, and had one kid to show for each of them. She had tried the pill, diaphragm, condoms (I think...), and something else...

Finally, the husband said "I think I know what's causing this..." and HE got snipped. No more kids after that.

Super sperm...?

I use the nuvaring. Because the dose is vaginal instead of oral, it is extremely low dose and in my experience considerably less likely to cause BC side effects. I stack it so that I don't get withdrawal bleeds (the fake "periods" you have on BC) and haven't had a problem with that in the year and a half? or so I've been doing it.

Also, because you only have to put it in once a month, there's less risk of you missing it compared to the pill, thus less risk of BC failure.

Condoms are great, Beach girl, but there's also other benefits to BC. Hormonal BC provides redundancy if you do use condoms, because even properly used condoms will result in about a pregnancy per year per 100 users. If you're at high risk of certain cancers, namely ovarian, 5 years on BC when you're younger (in your 20s or 30s) can dramatically reduce your risk of developing cancer later in life. BC can also pretty much completely stop a whole lot of reproductive ills- my sister's decade-long pain from endometrosis and other problems was cured basically in a couple of weeks on hormonal BC.

I generally do NOT recommend the pills despite how popular they are. They are easy to forget, and might cause more side effects that discourage you from using them. The patch (changed weekly), the ring (changed every 3 weeks), the implant (changed every 3 years, can be removed before if you want to get pregnant), or an IUD (5-12 years, can be removed if you want to get pregnant) are, in my books, better options.

For menstrual pain, the patch or ring are best because you can stack them to avoid periods, but the mirena IUD (5 years) also causes a significant reduction in menstrual pain and flow for most users- it just takes a couple of months for that effect to develop.

That's just... a really weird way of thinking. It sounds like you've been exposed to some really unhealthy attitudes about sex.

If not... you're severely fucked in the head and should do everyone a favor and go back to Sunday School.

Alesar, those are all really good points about the various types of hormonal BC now available. Back when I had to think about it, we didn't have all those options.

I agree with you about the risks of the pill: there are the inherent risks themselves, plus the risk of forgetting and missing a day. The different things you mentioned all sound like better options.
