Deaf for AG Bell

The only members of AG Bell I've seen on AD are parents who raise CI borgs.

Wouldn't that make it more likely that most of the complains from the AG Bell members come from hearing members with various agendas, from thinking ASL is a bit kewl, to acknowledging that AG Bell did a stupid move in the public. Not complains from grown up deaf people, who are the focus in the OP?

I know of at least 3 adult deaf AGBell members on AD -- none of them are parents of deaf kids with CIs -- and I think that number is surprising because I've actually only met a handful of AD members in real life.

And those would be: CI using late deafened?

Meeting AD members has what to do with you knowing people who are members of AgBell here?

Just curious.

I don't think so, none of those I'm thinking of became deaf as adults, if that's what you mean. But given the sensitivities on AD around being a member of such an org, I'd really rather not "out" anybody who isn't here right now or doesn't feel like discussing this, if you don't mind. I only know this from encountering them in other contexts over the past 4 years, and only made the connection with them as ADers after the fact.

Membership in AGBell doesn't usually come up as a topic of conversation here on AD. And when it does, people get very quiet if they are members. It comes up more easily in other contexts, at AGBell conferences, for example.

Why do I get the feeling a witch hunt is about to begin in AD?

Yeahhhhh, feeling the same. And I'm regretting mentioning it. I can say that none of the 3 are frequent flyers here now -- so nevermind.

At least you have the right mind on providing a link or respond directly and appropriately when asked.

AG Bell members infiltrating AD!! Horrors!

Why do I get the feeling a witch hunt is about to begin in AD?

It would be comments such as yours that start derailing, fighting, insulting, and whatnot. Perhaps you could refrain if you don't have anything of substantial value to say that actually contributes.

We have no problem with DEAF AG Bell members.
It is the attitude, always always the attitude we constantly squawk at.
As far as I am concerned, you are a "made" deafie member here in AD.

Late deafened doesn't only apply to adults.

I'll take that to be a "yes".;) No need to provide identifying information.

And of course, we can't forget our resident deaf audists.

We have discussed A.G.Bad members extensively on AD over the years. Generally, the whole issue just gets ignored, however, as unimportant. Not much to worry about from them.

Fighting? Where?

Fighting? Where?

If you read my post carefully, you would see it says "that starts". Seriously,

Why do I get the feeling a witch hunt is about to begin in AD?

isn't provocation?

You've been in too many threads that have gotten closed as of late, and you were a willing participant in them :)

(And you even got your own thread deleted before it could turn into a fight.)
