Since I have learned that the Space Shuttle ENDEAVOUR has left for space for the last time but what has left me wondering, why are they ending the program for good after 30 years in service?

budget cuts

President Barack Obama proposed freezing NASA’s budget at the 2010 level, and called for a five-year freeze on new spending for the space agency.
 
Also stopped the next planned space craft even tho they already built them and tested them. Big waste of money to stop after designing and building them.

I remember reading an article somewhere that NASA has built the toughest space shuttle. The RX7 something? I saw the photo somewhere looked cool though. What are their plans with this already undergoing built rocket?
 
As far as I understand, their plans are to have private companies build space crafts and lease them or pay them to take their stuff to space.
