Extreme Couponing : Videos : TLC

Please share here!

Two days ago, I went to store, and it was 23 dollars. I used the coupons and lowered to 9 dollars! :D :D

Good shopping. I wish I could brag, but I am not that organized. :)

We too, save $$ with coupons...Sunday's newspaper has a lot of them.

Also, I had a friend that was somewhat one of those "Coupon Queens"...she had a dresser drawer full of 'em....and in her dining room (?)....we were sitting down talking one day about saving $$ and she showed me all the coupons she had in there. I took out some that I would need, to find that they had expired about 2 years ago! Apparently, she just cuts them out, throws them in the drawer and never uses them.

I know!! I wish they would knock off the coupons and just lower the price for everyone, on account of I never remember to bring them either!

I am signed up for the grocery store's own program, and I get a little discount for that. When I remember to bring coupons for cereal and household products, I get a few more dollars off.

But generally, coupons seem to cover products I don't want anyway - a lot of processed foods, snacks, that sort of thing. Even for household cleaning, I use vinegar and baking soda and water more than I use prepared products (other than stuff to clean up any dog messes - for that I LOVE "Resolve.")

They never have coupons for fresh fruits and vegetables, which is where a lot of my budget goes.

True dat....and a lot of coupons feature the expensive products. I usually go for store brands and use my store card to save $$.

I buy in bulk. And I am very picky and only buy certain items. But still if you are adventurous, you really can save lots with coupons.

my big issue with coupons are the ones that says buy 2,3,4,5 of certain items to save a buck or so. Where is the saving in that? Buying store brands is much cheaper without coupons. They didnt do that 10-15 yrs ago. now they are getting worse on more expensive stuff. Unless there is something that I or kids will use, I wont use those types of coupons because in reality you are only saving 10-25 cents each. getting store brand stuff, the overall price is much less at times. Its just a matter of doing the math in the store when shopping, so I try to go during the weekdays mornings so I won't be bumped by a hurrieed shopper.

Ditto here.

I use coupons only for favorite foods like Thomas English muffins but as I'm info fresh veggies, I rarely buy processed stuff with except pasta and whole wheat at that. I use white vinegar for cleaning my floor.

Instead, what I do is look for bargains and buy things on sale.

I don't always buy the cheapest items. Take for example, the French's mustard brand. I really hate this mustard so I'd be wasting my money if i bought it so I buy the cheapest brand I like.

True.

It's odd to what lengths we will go to save a few bucks on groceries or gas, and then spend hundreds on cable TV, even if you can get good reception by antenna, or expensive cell phone plans, and the like.

I follow the old rule about "save 10%, give 10%, spend the rest with thanksgiving and praise" and try not to obsess too much over every little thing. Doesn't stop me from checking out prices and comparing, of course, but I'm with you, deafskeptic, in that I won't buy the cheapest thing if it's something where I have a strong preference for something a bit pricier.

I heard about this show, I was told that a woman bought $2,000 worth of things and that she only paid just under $45.

Actually, I don't have cable. I prefer the antenna.

Me too, actually. I am a cheapskate when it comes to being able to get TV OTA for free vs. paying for it.

We have OTA in VA, but have to pay for cable in NC, because we're just too far to get any signals otherwise.

You must live in a remote area of VA.

I am another who doesn't really use coupons much as they are mostly for the name brands only and it's been a long time since my budget allowed that. Like Botti, I am particular about some things, but for the most part, it's store brands. Now, my special milk, butter, cream cheese and sour cream are all expensive and I only treat myself once every so often with my special yogurt and ice cream.

No, it's the other way around. I live just outside D.C., near Alexandria. We get Baltimore and D.C. stations perfectly fine Over the Air (OTA). All in HDTV. We have a huge antenna up in the attic.

But we spend our summers in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and that is very remote. The only channel we could get OTA there is the educational programming channel. I think that's based in Raleigh, which seems far away, so I'm not quite sure about that.

Anyway, if we want to watch anything at all there besides that one channel, we have to have cable or dish. We have cable.

The HD channels are way better compared to the analog channels, aren't they? That's what I really like about having the antenna, I get to have plenty of HD channels without having to pay for them.

Yup. I can live without cable here perfectly fine.

The weird thing is sometimes the captioning is screwed up, though. We can't watch "House" on the D.C. station, because the captions don't come through. But we can watch the Baltimore affiliate with captions. I have no idea why that should be.
