Justice for my friend Becky?

I'm sorry, Beowulf. I hope you can find some peace now.

If I may, I lost a dear friend of mine back in 2007. Different scenerio. She was killed by a drunk and drugged driver. The lady responsible pled no contest and she was put in prison for 4 yrs. Not long enough, but, it is what it is.

Anyway, I'm trying to say this.... Whatever the outcome of the trial, remember your friend. The scum that took your friends' life doesn't deserve your time or energy. After my friend died, I was very angry at the total disregard for her life. I was also angry that the killer only got four years of prison time. However, I had to realize that *I* had to go on. That I could not change anything. Not only that, but my friend would NOT want me to be bitter about it. It wasn't easy to put certain feelings aside and let them go, but, I did.

Your friend will always be in your thoughts. Let the courts decide the fate of the person who killed her. Even if it's not the outcome you hope for, KNOW that justice will prevail; regardless. Karma has a way of getting people...

Hang in there and I wish you the best.
Thank you for your kind words, Oceanbreeze. I agree that Becky would want me to move on, and I have done so. I still think of her and it no longer hurts to do so. I just wish you guys could have known her, she was something else, At this point they do not think I will be called to testify, so we will see. I do not think ill of the suspect any longer: strangely enough, he will simply get whatever is coming to him, in whatever form it may be, and I have already accepted that fact. I will just be glad to have all this over and done with.

Thanks for the update.

The wheels of justice grind slowly. :(

Dang, it sure does, eh?

Wow. Amazing story. I too offer condolences on your loss, but you have a wonderful opportunity now to honor her memory by assisting in justice deserved for the taking of her life.

Glad to see this case has been solved, and the killer convicted. Nothing will bring her back, but seeing this verdict will help the loved ones to recover.

Rest in Peace, Becky. Let's hope he gets a long sentence. Not that Missouri needs to have to foot the bill for his care while being put away, but he had freedom all this time that Becky did not have.

Yeah, she got the death sentence.

So glad that he was found guilty at last.

I hope after the sentencing, you might reach a closure.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I still think of Becky and wonder what I could do to honor her memory. I talked with her sister and told her about the time Becky expressed a wish for a simple ceremony if she ever "kicked the bucket." She wanted to be shot into the sun! So, I thought up an idea: in a couple months after sentencing we will lug a cannon up a steep hill through the woods to a spot atop a cliff overlooking the Missouri river, one of her favorite spots. We will put some of her personal effects in to the cannon, say a few words, and fire away. She would have loved that.

Becky

I wanted to wait to see what happend at the trial. Now I can say to you let the healing start. If you and Becky were so close you know she would not want you grieving once she can finally rest in peace, The killer will have to live with what he has done until he dies. Remember the good times with becky , smile and laugh...she is happy now her spirit is free and I am sure she will embrace you with warmth for the affection you 2 shared. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU WULFY...Becky is no longer waiting for justice..she is free !
peace to you and her and her family....fill your heart with memories and love let the hate and ugliness go....Take good care of yourself...Hugs M!♥♥♥
