Audist views suck, but they exist. I once asked a friend: "If someone insults me, but I never read it, should I feel offended?"

Remember this forum is public access to anyone, sometime when people feel have an urge to disagree with someone, they tend to spill it out negatively.
I'm a moderator on other forum and this is how I set up the rules, read below (i'm going to change the name of the forum because you need not to be in it):

The List is a forum for adults. There is no chaperone, no shooshing librarian, no facilitator or moderator, no traffic cop, no spotter, no censor and no warden. Subscribers who are offended by the posts of other subscribers will have to find a way to deal with the situation other than appealing to a person of authority. (By the same token, the list-owner will invoke no authority over the behavior of subscribers on the list unless the technical infrastructure is in danger -- in the case of binary-bombing, for instance.) There may be subscribers who prefer to fall silent or even to unsubscribe from the list if offended (even if the offense was imagined, or real but unintentional), while other subscribers may choose to exact whatever amends for the offense they are able to. Both of these reactions, and all the possibilities in between, are valid styles of communication for this list; all such reactions are suspiciously reminiscent of real life, something The List is intended to be part of rather than outside of. The List is not a shelter for those who need protection from others, nor is it any kind of recovery group. Subscribers are here at their own risk, and are not under the protection of this charter nor of the list-owner. Persons who seek a sheltered forum may wish to look elsewhere, but everybody is welcome to give us a try.

So, it's up to the forum users and our list members, we can simply ignore the person who spew the words negatively and move on to our discussion with great educational purpose.

So, how is the trolling? Looks like the loud and obnoxious would rule the roost; the meek and mild would need to find another place to gather. What is the "niche" your site is made for?

You know, I'm not much for censorship, but I have to admit, it is getting very very old. I agree that this should be a safe place for the deaf, as there is no where else that they can go in the vast majority of this world, where they are validated and accepted for who they are.

All of these audist views and the discounting of the deaf experience just serves to continue what education and oral environments have already put the deaf through. Especially when the audists come in here and want to play "victim" and whine about being picked on. I see no give and take in their posts. Not once have I seen one say, "You have a point. Let me think about that and see if I can't incorporate it into my newly formed idea of what deafness is."

We have access to all the audism we want out there in the real world. Why should the deaf have to endure it on a forum that was created for them and about them?

But then again, they also give us the opportunity to point out exactly what audism is, and the many ways it manifests, and to counter their mistaken beliefs with reality.

How does one show the number of ways it becomes manifest, or the covert ways it controls one's actions and decisions, if one does not seek to unearth what they have already seen is there?

Oh..we welcome the troll but we can catch on early. We flame them and if troll doesn't like it... bye!! LOL.

It's related to Myers-Briggs, MBTI, which stand for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, invented by Carl Jung. So, our group which is INTJ personallity and we are the member of that "INTJ" group.. they are more related to Mensa group. So, in this group, they don't like any "idiot" to enter this list because we don't want to become a teacher to them. It's like, when ever they ask a stupid question, why can't they google it..the answer is there!! So, for the people who have INTJ personality...this forum make them feel like home. IT's not like Kansas any more.

Right. There are forums that cheer those type of opinions. You want agreement, go to them and leave AD alone. You already know what the reaction will be from members of this forum. Don't like it, feel like you are being picked on and are a victim? Then don't come here. Simple as that. If you choose to come here, you will get what you expect. Deal with it.

ASL doesn't have a great deal to do with audism. It is just one of the ways it manifests.

Jung invented the Myers-Briggs? Odd, I thought it was developed by two very different people. INTJ are more related to MENSA group? Can you show me where you arrived at these ideas?

Really, it's not about "how stupid" they are.. there are people who have great intelligent on certain part of their life. There's one person who is extremly intelligent with music, like Beethoven, he's deaf and he's stupid with other thing..but his music is his life.

I realize what goes on there. I do lurk in those areas, because I am not confident I am qualified to speak. I am HOH, was not born that way, so I have only begun over the last 16 years to feel what most of these members have known all their lives.

I do know this: Ignorance is everywhere. Differing opinions are everywhere. I have seen the insults and hollering matches. No thanks.

I mean that Myers-Briggs came up with the idea from Carl Jung theories...so that is how it was born. If you read more about 16 types of personalities, which are ENFJ, ESTJ, ISTJ, INTJ and so on. INTJ stand for Introvert, iNtutions, Thinker and Judgemental. All this came from the MBTI test result. So, if you google the MBTI test and if you take a test, you will get surprsing result. It allow to understand more about who you are. The number of people who are INTJ are about 2 t 3% of the population and those 2 to 3% of the people are usually high IQ. It's is very interesting research.

Actually, Jung only identified 8 types. The 16 Personality Factor model was built on the theories of several psychologists.

I have a good understanding of the 16 factor model, and have been trained to administer the Myers-Briggs. I am a Ph.D in clinical psychology.
