To be frank - I am getting tired of the negative audist POV's being spewed here on the forum.

I sincerely think this forum should be a "safe haven" for the deaf community no matter who you are. We already experience enough issues in our daily lives as it is. I really don't want that kind of crap here on All Deaf.

How about you guys? What do you think?

Yes, I agree. We need a policy against audism.

Racism and etc wouldn't be tolerated here so why should audism?

Audism might be a clearly definable thing for those of us that understand it and live with it, and we can therefore equate it with racism or prejudice, or other censor-worthy language, but many people do not clearly understand what it is. More often than not, audism is exhibited unintentionally on this site by people who don't know any better.

I say it is better to allow the members themselves to educate, ridicule, tar & feather, etc. the perpetrators of audism, rather than cry to the mods.

Iam inclided to agree but the problem is whenever we ridicule, tar and fether those who posess audist views, we get banned. Look at Jillio, for one. I have so many ugly thoughts that I want to say to them but I find myself holding them back to avoid getting banned. I shouldn't care whether I get banned or not but I guess I do,,hehehe.

People who spot audist views would get banned if a policy was put in effect.

The problem is the people who spot audist views deliberately go out of their way to troll people to unearth it. Without such fishing methods, audism is hard to prove to pinpoint which are unintentional and which are deliberate.

Trolling a troll does not make a wrong right.

Don't look at me as a shining example (lol), but clearly individuals can use restraint in any situation and not resort to nastiness. As Dave points out, a lot of the intentionally audist posts in this forum are nothing more than trolling, and those posters should be banned for trolling, not audist views.

A perfect example is Rick48. His sole reason for coming to this site is to inflame and incite.

Whaaaat???

Remember that section on your elementary school report card that says "plays well with others?" Some people here do not play well with others. This isn't elementary school and I don't think that we should have to put up with bullies.

For some of us, AD is the only place where we have the opportunity to 'voice' and advocate.

Part of the problem is that some people use the anonymity of the internet to say things to people that they would never have the gall to say to anyone's face.

i have yet to see the people being accused of audism trying to shut anyone else up. They say their opinion and then are called audists and sometimes told to "shut up" and "stop posting" or "go away".

it comes down to this: is there really only one acceptable viewpoint on alldeaf? Should the rest of the perspectives and opinions be banned?

Case in point.

I say yes. But, I also think banning a certain few would also solve a lot of issues. I feel that if a person's sole purpose for being here is to degrade and disrespect this community, they should be banned.

There are subjects that are very controversial and things can get heated. That's understandable, but, there's a huge difference between that and someone coming here with an agenda to spread hate and acrimony.

I said something to someone privately awhile ago. There is someone on here that is just flat out nasty, mean, and, hateful. I want to ask his defenders something:

If this person were a racist, would you condone him calling someone a racial slur in your presence?

Think about it.

And, please mods, do something about the blatant disrespect that is becoming SO rampant here.
