bathroom break? at gas station?

Most newer vehicles have oil level in the dashboard. They will alarm you when your oil is low or it will auto shut down before damage the engine.
Some Europe do not have dip stick.
full-service gas are out of luck for scam.
I think you can pull away from the pumps and park near the building.Stay in the car. No bathroom break? No grab food/book at shop?
Most Americans aren't driving new vehicles with all the bells and whistles. Most newer vehicles have oil level in the dashboard. They will alert you when your oil is low or it will auto shut down before damage the engine.

My Jeep is 15 years old, and all the fluids (oil, transmission, windshield washer fluid, coolant, brake, power steering) have to be checked by hand. The idiot lights on the dash come on if I get too low on fluids but who wants to wait until it goes that far? Some Europe which 10 years old and it do not have dip stick.![]()

if driver has a common sense - he wouldn't be driving in heavy rain or snow. and if he doesn't bother to check fluids - then he must be either a rich one or a stupid one.Who bother to check fluid by hand during heavy rain or snow or cold weather from here?
doctor. lawyer. master degree. disabled people....... they all have money to buy modern cars so the point is moot. Not everyone know how to check fluids by their hands for their vehicles like lawyer, doctor, master degree, etc. Some of them are chairwheeling and they CAN'T check fluids. That's what dashboard for.
what's the difference if it's dashboard? You can have a leak while driving too.No matter how ofter you check fluids if they were good or not. What's IF their were leak, then fluid(s) will gone before you check it.
and it would be annoying if dashboard is malfunctioning. Electronic device always fail. Every year - there's a recall. I know you are a fan of gadgets and modern way but nothing beats a simple common sense. That's will be annoying to check fuel by dip stick if there is no fuel gauge on the dashboard.

You missed my point about cold weather. Again, Not everyones know how to check fluids.
doctor. lawyer. master degree. disabled people....... they all have money to buy modern cars so the point is moot.
It was not about money. It's avoid from destroy anything. Same idea, You just got brand new Nissan over USED SUV.
what's the difference if it's dashboard? You can have a leak while driving too.
You can't drive around without dashboard due no MPH read. No point. It's rare to see dashboard issue unlike engine, fluids leak, etc.
and it would be annoying if dashboard is malfunctioning. Electronic device always fail. Every year - there's a recall. I know you are a fan of gadgets and modern way but nothing beats a simple common sense.
so what did I miss? You missed my point about cold weather.
they don't know what to do and how to read warning lights in dashboard either.Again, Not everyones know how to check fluids.
modern cars, even cheapest cars, are equipped with it anyway. I don't see what you're trying to say about brand new Nissan over used SUV. It makes no difference to me.It was not about money. It's avoid from destroy anything. Same idea, You just got brand new Nissan over USED SUV.
Model T. no problemYou can't drive around without dashboard due no MPH read. No point.
really? NHTSA ODI - RecallsIt's rare to see dashboard issue unlike engine, fluids leak, etc.
There is no Electronic device always fail. It's all depends where they made from. Look at me. My Subaru have zero problem with electronic device for direct 7 years.
so what did I miss?
Re-read?
they don't know what to do and how to read warning lights in dashboard either.
Warning lights? You think of 90's or early cars. In facts, most modern use digital LCD like "low RR tire , low oil pression, low coolant, low washer fluid., etc" It is not hard to read.
modern cars, even cheapest cars, are equipped with it anyway. I don't see what you're trying to say about brand new Nissan over used SUV. It makes no difference to me.
You always made negative about modern. Now you got brand new Nissan. It don't make sense to me. What's wrong with 80's SUV?
Model T. no problem![]()
Welcome to 90 years ago. There is no speed limited that time. Right now, it's illegal to drive without MPH.
really? NHTSA ODI - Recalls
(if the link doesn't work, check this one)
Who bother to check fluid by hand during heavy rain or snow or cold weather from here?
The gas pump area is covered with an awning so drivers don't get wet.I can understand that a person with mobility problems might need help. Not everyone know how to check fluids by their hands for their vehicles like lawyer, doctor, master degree, etc. Some of them are chairwheeling and they CAN'T check fluids. That's what dashboard for.
If there's a leak, then you need to check it more often or get the leak fixed. No matter how ofter you check fluids if they were good or not. What's IF their were leak, then fluid(s) will gone before you check it.
Maybe it's annoying but it's necessary. That's will be annoying to check fuel by dip stick if there is no fuel gauge on the dashboard.
....The gas pump area is covered with an awning so drivers don't get wet.
Only heavy rain with wind, Yes, I got wet even awning was here.
They can also check their fluids at home, either in a garage or wait until the weather is more convenient.
Not everyone own their garage or no time to check during heavy travel. Wait until the weather change is bad idea.
I can understand that a person with mobility problems might need help.
Lawyers and doctors can't figure out how to check their car fluids? I suppose that means they have to pay mechanics to do their oil changes and add fluids, too?
Well, Some of them were very busy and time fly and they forget to change a oil or something. So that what remind oil lamp or digital LCD alert for.
Like I posted before, not all dashboards have fluid gauges. Even Hubby's Jeep is only four years old and he doesn't have gauges that show actual levels. He says that by the time idiot light gauges light up, damage is imminent for your engine.
What kind of Jeep your husband own it? 2006 Jeep should have system monitor under digital LCD, not gauges.
If there's a leak, then you need to check it more often or get the leak fixed.
That's point, how you know if there is leak? That's what alert system for.
Maybe we should send an email to Mythbusters for this one.
I did and I saw nothing except pettiness.Re-read?
Same thing. Warning lights.Warning lights? You think of 90's or early cars. In facts, most modern use digital LCD like "low RR tire , low oil pression, low coolant, low washer fluid., etc" It is not hard to read.
my truck is same as 80's except better engine and new design. The dashboard is very basic... which is why I bought it. I don't like a computerized car telling me what to doYou always made negative about modern. Now you got brand new Nissan. It don't make sense to me. What's wrong with 80's SUV?
actually no otherwise Jay Leno wouldn't be allowed to drive most of his old cars.Welcome to 90 years ago. There is no speed limited that time. Right now, it's illegal to drive without MPH.
RV? it's not just RV. you read too fast. It's a list of ALL recalls of ANY cars. There are tons of electronic issues such as fuel gauge, engine light, etc.Re-read this link again. It's nothing do with dashboard issue and That link you send me, they are about RV. I don't know anyone own an RV and I don't care.
Spartan is recalling certain model year 2007 through 2009 gladiator fire apparatus class 8 vehicles manufactured beginning August 21, 2007 through March 8, 2010, equipped with Detroit Diesel series 60 engines. The engine may shut down unexpectedly when a diesel particulate filter over temperature condition is detected. Unexpected emergency vehicle engine shutdown under certain conditions could hamper rescue operations and place the public at risk. Spartan will notify owners and Detroit Diesel will repair the vehicles free of charge by reprogramming the engine control logic to illuminate a malfunction indicator light without requesting engine shutdown. Please see Daimler Trucks' defect report 10E-005. The safety recall began on May 19, 2010. Owners may contact Daimler Trucks at 1-800-547-0712 or Spartan Chassis at 1-800-543-4277 - Option 1.
Volvo is recalling certain model year 2010 XC70 vehicles manufactured from December 5, 2006 through October 1, 2009 for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." The FMVSS label, tire and loading information label and a page in the owner's manual contain incorrect maximum permissible inflation pressure according to FMVSS 110. This does not meet the requirements of the standard. The corrective action is to update the vehicles with a new FMVSS label, tire and loading information label and TPMS software. Volvo retailers will also apply a label with correct maximum tire pressure information to the owner's manual. This service will be performed free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during June 2010. Owners may contact Volvo at 1-800-458-1552.

I did and I saw nothing except pettiness.
Too bad.
Same thing. Warning lights.
Same thing? People don't know to read on digital LCD? That's fucked up.
my truck is same as 80's except better engine and new design. The dashboard is very basic... which is why I bought it. I don't like a computerized car telling me what to do
Same as 80's as what?
actually no otherwise Jay Leno wouldn't be allowed to drive most of his old cars.
you're confused about the law - the manufacturer is required to include speedometer in cars AFTER 19xx. Show me the law that says it's illegal to drive without speedometer (I'm not interested in local law... show me federal/state law)
You already knew it and no need to show you federal/state law.
RV? it's not just RV. you read too fast. It's a list of ALL recalls of ANY cars. There are tons of electronic issues such as fuel gauge, engine light, etc.
example -
LOL, You don't understand what they talked about. It's nothing do with dashboard. It's PCM issue/outdate firmware. It's old news to me. You send me a wrong link then.
that's why I don't care for fancy modern warning system. It's nice but technology always fail. I use common sense, simple tool, and my own eyes to see if my car is fine or not.
You can tell if there is an oil leak if you see the oil line on your dipstick get lower and lower each time you check it. Biggest clue is an oil spot on your driveway or garage floor. Or if you're not sure park on a clean pavement wait, like go to a shopping store, come back and see if there is an oil spot beneath your car. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see whether an oil is leaking or not. Catching an early leak can save you trouble and $$ down the road.
Might want to look at the pavement where the car has been parked.
