Are we? That's what netflix CEO said... and sadly, he's right:

LOL!

Blind Patriotism. It's un-American

I don't see anything wrong with loving and supporting one's country. That includes recognizing the things that are wrong with the country and striving to rectify those things.

is this an open question? sorry if I misunderstand...but for me, "blind patriotism" means - thinking the U.S. is great simply because we're the U.S. -not questioning any policies, thinking that things like "free trade" and other U.S. policies are the best and only way. That we can go to other places and say that their religions and cultures are "backward" or "wrong" as a whole and that we have the right to change them. "Bless the U.S.A" and nobody else. If someone questions it, then that person is considered "un-American".
I do love the United States. But I also see the problems - both historically and how that still affects us today.

No one here did that, so I don't understand to whom he was referring, if that's the same definition that he's using.

Saying "God bless the USA" doesn't mean a person wants God to curse other countries. It also doesn't mean that a person doesn't recognize that the USA has problems.

I knew we could count on you to be quick to defend our country. God bless my back yard.

Netflix CEO has apologized for his remark. The Official Netflix Blog: Apologies

I have never heard of blind patriotism before. I assume that the definition of blind patriotism is one believes that USA is the number one over everything, including countries no matter what like "my country is far better than yours."

I think it could be too subjective to define it.

My previous post wasn't in response to koko's post. I'm just saying my piece in here.

I love America. I really do. :)

But I find that a lot of Americans have no clue about other countries and their perceptions pretty much sync with the map.

Second here. *flying the American flag* :D

What is "blind" patriotism?

What?

Oh brother...sigghhhhhh...!

Right. Nothing wrong in saying "USA #1" or "God bless the USA." Or whatever form to express your pride and gratitude for living in the greatest country on Earth with all its warts, strength, and beauty.

'nuff said. :cool2:

Nuff said indeed. Says you live under the US flag while supporting
the German economy. :)

Btw not to keen on the German logo above the American
flag either.

England is not on that map?

Every person in the world thinks his or her country is the greatest in the world. That is completely natural. There is no place like home.
