yes, right on video...computer keyboard so easy carry anywhere but cost $599.00??? crazy...

Interesting video.

It looks like it functions as an iPod attached to a keyboard.

What is the purpose of this? Portability? A full-size tactile keyboard for people who like iPod but don't like virtual keyboards?

How long is the battery life?

Not worth it. Id rather buy a $15 keyboard than a 479.99 keyboard.
Not good for kids, either. They love to break things.

Is it worth it?

nope. this free keyboard will do. I don't have iPod, iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, gaming console, PDA smartphone, gaming keyboard, gaming mouse, etc. because they are not functional for me. Just a bunch of expensive toys where I rather spend my money on something else.

You're just too busy shooting paper targets at a gun club.

It only appeals to minimalists. Looks like a way to have clutter-free office where all you need is a monitor and an ASUS keyboard.
I would rather spend the extra money on an iMac than buying a minimalist netbook if I want a clutter-free office.

Most home office clutter results not from the hardware itself but from all the other "stuff" that accumulates. Papers, sticky notes, snacks, cups, doodads, CD cases, hats, dirty socks, sleeping cats, etc.

I know, that's the practical way of looking at it; however... people who are prone to be like this: BBC News - Cult of less: Living out of a hard drive tends to go to the extremes of making sure they have spartan spaces.

And sorry if the OP thinks it's off-topic, all-in-one computers like the ASUS keyboard are designed to appeal to people who like the "less is more" lifestyle.

Got it. :)

Thanks for the link. Doesn't sound like a warm and cozy lifestyle. Oh, well.

It is on topic because you've shown us that there is a market for that kind of minimalist technology.

It reminds me of Atari 1040ST. It had a keyboard built into the cpu.

this thing is not even efficient nor sufficiently functional for minimalism. A netbook or a small laptop is a better value for functionality. I believe this ASUS kb is more like "expensive geek's toy"

I am sure those people will change their minds when their friends are tired of them mooching for a place to sleep. And I am sure they will change their mind when their stuff keeps breaking, and it costs a lot of money to get them repaired or replaced.

I tried having only a laptop, and it was stressful for me when both my BlackBerry and my laptop went out of commission when I had important documents to print off.

So, ASUS.... Thanks, but... I will stick with my entertainment centre which is a HDTV hooked up to two or three computers. Being able to watch TV, do my works on the couch, receive phone calls and such all in one corner of my apartment is "minimalist" enough for me. No need for a separate desk or work-place :)
