I have been there many, many times since I often go to Allegany State Park. Did you ever go to the Salamanca Mall Antiques? What a place!

I have no idea but our malls are built on Native Americans' burial grounds :Ohno:

I'm so dying to get to visit Quinualt and Makah in Washington. Quinault & Makah is not that far from Forks, WA where Twilight trilogy films were took place.

You will like it up there. It is very beautiful. My sis in law is WA native, and is a huge fan of the Twilight trilogy. She went there a few times, and took tons of pictures on Facebook.

I had been visited at Cameron Trading Post and took Antelope Canyon tour in Navajo Indian Reservations (AZ).

I have visited Shinnecock Indian Reservations in Long Island, NY many times. I know their family very well since my childhood. They are very friendly. I sometimes buy their beautiful handmade custom jewelry (for myself and also, for my family as well) or I sometimes get free from them...

I have been to Icy Strait Point in Alaska and seen the Tlingit people, but I have never been on a reservation.

My dad was part Cherokee, but he left when I was an infant, so I know little about that side of my family.

Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Ojibway in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin.
Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma.

I have memories of living on a reservation somewhere but I have no idea where, though...my mom died in 1990 so I can't ask her. :( It was before my mom married and we moved to Wisconsin. And my dad would never admit to my being Native American...he was ashamed of having non-white children. He is not my real dad anyway...he is my half sister's dad. The only reason I even know I am Native American is because my maternal grandmother told me, plus I have memories of living on the reservation and of my mom telling me that my real dad is not white. I am at least part Cherokee (mom is Cherokee) and part other tribe but not sure which. It could be Ute or Navajo but I have no idea because I don't know who my real dad is...the guy who married my mom is not my real dad...it's a long ass story. My mom's side of the family are mostly scattered around the southwestern area of the USA (Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico) while a few live on the east coast.

:wave:Lucia, PatsCats, DD and everyone!

I was on the Lac de Flambeau reservation some years back when my mom and I were traveling with some family friends one year. I was in Rhinelander during the spearfishing controversy. I have learned a lot more over the years about Native civil rights struggles. When I was in college I recall one of my teachers who was Ojibway/Stockbridge discussing with us and telling stories and one day he said - don't be a cultural tourist. I will always remember that.
So if I buy something alleged to have been made by someone in the First Nations, I try to verify that it was actually made by the person and that the Tribe or Nation actually gets the benefit of my purchase. If I get wild rice I try to buy from White Earth.

I dance at the pow wows in unity with the People.
Civil rights and sovereignty affect us all.

Very interesting threads here.

Two reservations (Central Minnesota).

Went to Northwest Coast reservation (British Columbia) for some wonderful salmons which the natives cook.

I visited several reservations in New Mexico between Albuquerque and Santa Fa, New Mexico.

Taos Reservation (beautiful pueblos high up in the mountains in northern New Mexico)

Four Corners on Navajo nations (New Mexico).

Window Rock Reservation (Arizona) - visit friends and went shopping.

Zuni and Hopi Reservations near Albuquerque, New Mexico - Special ceremony dancing.

Here on the Manitoulin Island, we have lots of First Nations reserves for Powwows and also over the mainland, few reserves for more Powwows. Also visited some friends here and there.

I've had some exposure to Native Indian culture and food in Canada. But for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the group or where.
