FYI about Hire the boy for lawnmower

If a minor teen boy who doesn't pay taxes count as a reason why home insurance don't have to cover him. They have no proof that he is in a business for himself.

In the USA a minor cannot own a business unless it is run by an adult trustee.

right. I just think if she invite him to mow her yard, rather he does it voluntary or not, her home insurance would cover him. He is just a minor trying to earn extra cash probably for a video game or something.

Right, taxes have nothing to do with this. Even if homeless or anyone making less than $7,500 a year then there won't be any taxes due anyway. Pointless when it comes to taxes over this mowing issue.

The real issue is liablity, and the law really varies from state to state.

For example, here in New York if one hires to do around house and if the homeowner owns a business of any kind can be easily liable caused by careless contractor regardless. I know it because friend of mine went though and lost big time. Also, if homeowner owns 4 apt units or more, they can be liable. However it can be different with other state. Like in Colorado where I learn that it is contractor fully liable if they are idiot not the homeowner or any company. So, Colorado and NYS law is just opposite.

Taxes don't matter. When a homeowner hires (pays) someone to do work on their property, it's the responsibility of the worker to pay taxes and get insurance. It's not the homeowner's responsibility. However, it is the homeowner's responsibility to make sure that the worker does have coverage, or else be willing to pay for any damages or injuries out of his own (the homeowner's) pocket. You can be sure that the insurance company will ask why the boy was on your property and got hurt while mowing the grass.
