BP chief Tony Hayward sold shares weeks before oil spill
The chief executive of BP sold £1.4 million of his shares in the fuel giant weeks before the Gulf of Mexico oil spill caused its value to collapse.

Tony Hayward cashed in about a third of his holding in the company one month before a well on the Deepwater Horizon rig burst, causing an environmental disaster.
Mr Hayward, whose pay package is £4 million a year, then paid off the mortgage on his family’s mansion in Kent, which is estimated to be valued at more than £1.2 million.

Who is really in charge of the *whole* oil spill disaster? And we continue to wonder about that question, too. You see, the "buck" stops with him. Really? Hmmm...

:aw:

:aw: Foxrac..and I've no words at the moment to spew my disgust at this either! A $700,000 yacht !..They should take it away, give it to the people in the Gulf....and give him a ROWBOAT!

A rowboat with a hole in it so the water can leak in!

Meh, it's been 2 months. He is entitled to a family life as much as anyone else. It's not like he blew the rig up. His people said the rig was safe and Federal inspectors agreed.

I just heard on the news today from someone at worked on the rig say there was leak and it was not fixed , the pipe was only shut off! BP was told by contractors they they had to run some tests before the rig could use to dill oil , but BP did not run the tests and BP did not add some part to the rig as they did not want to wait 10 more hours to get the rig running! BP was negligent!

No.

I'm trying very hard to understand here. You Republicans were raving on about government "socializing" corporations like health care and car companies... and government telling them what to do. And now you want the government to take control of oil company to fix this mess and to regulate it?

Deeply confused...

BP has full responsibility and total control to fix this mess. Obama let them deal with it. BP has massive funds, political influence, lobbying power, manpower, and resource at their disposal.

:dunno:
